Job Summary
Were hiring a Product Owner on behalf of a well-established enterprise. This is a permanent role and is based in Cape Town.
The ideal professional will have a strong feel for service journeys and knows how to turn strategy into a clear delivery-ready roadmap. The role sits in a mature technology-focused environment where Agile ways of working are fully embedded and cross-functional collaboration is the norm.
Additionally this role is suited for a Product Owner that thrives in guiding the vision for customer-servicing capabilities translating strategic goals into features and ensuring teams stay aligned on priorities. Key responsibilities (among others)
- Setting and communicating the product vision so teams and stakeholders are aligned
- Translating broader business goals into a prioritised and continuously updated roadmap
- Working closely with teams and stakeholders to validate needs gather requirements and shape delivery
- Owning and refining the product backlog; focusing on value and clarity
- Contributing to Agile ceremonies; keeping momentum and removing ambiguity
- Writing user stories and acceptance criteria that are clear testable and aligned to user value
- Supporting the full product lifecycle; from concept to continuous improvement
- Keeping an eye on the market; understanding competitors trends and customer expectations
- Tracking performance using agreed metrics; identifying opportunities for optimisation
- Using research and data to validate product decisions and maintain customer-centricity
Key requirements
- A degree in IT Computer Science or similar
- Certifications that support PO/PM capability; SAFe PO; POPM; ICP or similar
- Solid experience as a Product Owner or similar product management role
- A strong understanding of Agile; Scrum; Kanban; SAFe
- Confidence communicating with technical and non-technical teams; with presentation and collaboration skills to match
- Ability to work in a hybrid model with multiple contributors
- Strong prioritisation skills; grounded in value delivery
- Creative problem-solving and a willingness to rethink assumptions
- Familiarity with lifecycle and delivery tools such as Jira; Miro
- Knowledge of Microsoft Dynamics 365 would be an advantage
- Understanding of financial-services environments
- Experience with customer-centric service design; analytics; and data-driven decision-making
