Position:	Patient Care Assistant II

Cluster / Hospital / Department:	Hong Kong West Cluster/ Grantham Hospital/ Cardiac Medicine Unit
Salary:	HK$19764 - HK$24701 per month Up to 5% of total basic salary as end-of-contract gratuity may be offered to contract staff upon completion of the contract subject to satisfactory performance.

Key Responsibilities:

1. Assist nurses in providing direct patient-care service in various service settingsincluding in-patient day care service.

2. Provide blood-taking and related duties which include taking blood specimen and preparing blood specimen labels / blood-taking materials blood glucose analysis using blood glucose meter.

3. Perform ECG for patients and related duties.

4. Assist clinical staff in examination and procedure.

5. Prepare patient for investigation physical examination and nursing procedure inward or clinic.

6. Assist in patient preparation for Treadmill and Cardiopulmonary exercise testing and post procedure cleansing

7. Assist in preparation for cardiac examination and procedure.

8. Assist doctor during consultation such as transfer record equipment handling chaperoning patient positioning & specimen handling etc.

9. Handle patient / public enquiries and communicate with clinical staff and public.

10. Comply with work instructions infection control and OSH guidelines to perform routine and ad hoc cleansing in various settings.

11. Perform daily disinfection care and maintenance of medical equipment and ensure equipment and physical work environment are in good condition.

12. Handling clinical waste and confidential waste paper.

13. Check and prepare medical consumables and materials restock after use and assist in store inventory receiving and delivery.

14. To perform other duties as assigned by supervisor.

Entry Requirements:

1. Completed F.5 / S.5 or equivalent (see Remarks). AND

2. Completed structured departmental training program (see Remarks).

3. Holder of Corporate Patient Care Assistant (Clinical Assistant) Training Program Certificate in blood-taking training organized by HAHO (See Remarks).

Preferred Attributes:

1. Possess recognized Health Care Assistant Training / Care-related Support Workers Certificate*.

2. Experience in providing palliative care service.

3. Proficiency in common computer software including MS office (Word / Excel /PowerPoint / Access) and Chinese word processing.

4. Good interpersonal and communication / presentation skills.

5. Self-motivated willing to learn and able to work independently.

6. Good command in written and spoken English and Chinese.
