Job Description
Registered Dietitians in the outpatient Oncology Program are responsible for providing individualized nutritional support that aligns with the standards of the College of Dietitians of Ontario and the hospitals oncology nutrition care guidelines. They are key members of the interdisciplinary healthcare team working collaboratively with other dietitians and healthcare professionals to deliver compassionate evidence-based nutrition interventions that address the unique needs of patients undergoing cancer treatment. Their practice emphasizes quality of life symptom management and continuity of care within the outpatient cancer journey.
What must you have
- Current Registration and in good standing with the College of Dietitians of Ontario.
- Graduate of a recognized university program (majoring in food and nutrition) and successful completion of a Dietetic Internship or Practicum.
- Current Basic Cardiac Life Support (BCLS) certificate.
What else do you bring
- Demonstrated ability to deliver patient-centered goal-oriented nutritional care in an outpatient oncology setting utilizing chronic disease self-management strategies and motivational interviewing techniques to support patients undergoing chemotherapy.
- Demonstrates ability to provide comprehensive assessment and nutritional care planning in the outpatient setting.
- Demonstrates ability to provide individual or group nutrition counseling in a team environment
- Demonstrates Mackenzie Healths Core and Professional Competencies
- Demonstrates strong organizational skills
- Possess strong conflict management skills
- Demonstrates excellent interpersonal skills
- Proven ability to work in a computerized healthcare environment
- Demonstrates excellent written and verbal English skills
- Ability to function independently as well as collaborate with the healthcare team
- Ensures and maintains patient confidentiality
- Proven attendance record.
- Demonstrates understanding and complies with patient and staff safety policies and procedures that foster a safe and inclusive environment for all.
- Ability to perform the essential duties of the job.
- Effectively uses empathy in interactions with others.
- Demonstrates behaviours consistent with Mackenzie Healths Commitment to Caring.
