Are you a hands-on problem solver who takes pride in keeping facilities running safely and efficiently The City of Jersey Village is looking for a skilled and reliable Facilities Maintenance Technician to join our Building Maintenance team. This role is essential in supporting our city buildings ensuring clean safe and well-maintained facilities for employees and the public.

About the Position

As a Facilities Maintenance Technician youll perform a wide variety of skilled and semi-skilled tasks-including repairs preventative maintenance custodial work and troubleshooting building systems. No two days are the same! From HVAC checks and electrical or plumbing fixes to event setups-youll be a key part of keeping city operations running smoothly.

This position requires flexibility including occasional early mornings nights weekends or holiday shifts. As essential personnel you may also be required to report during emergencies.

Key Responsibilities

• Perform preventive maintenance on City buildings equipment and machinery

• Paint and refinish interior/exterior surfaces

• Conduct weekly building inspections and identify safety concerns

• Troubleshoot and repair minor HVAC plumbing and electrical systems

• Complete custodial tasks: sweeping mopping emptying trash window cleaning

• Set up rooms for events and meetings (tables chairs microphones etc.)

• Coordinate with outside vendors (HVAC electrical plumbing etc.)

• Respond to maintenance requests and document work performed

• Maintain tools equipment and safety gear properly

• Assist other departments as needed

What You Should Know

Knowledge of:

• Tools and materials used for maintenance construction and repairs

• Safe and proper operations of building systems (HVAC electrical plumbing)

• Carpentry painting and general building upkeep

• Safety practices and OSHA guidelines

• Customer service principles

Skills & Abilities:

• Work safely with tools and equipment

• Prepare rough sketches and estimate materials/labor

• Maintain accurate work records

• Climb ladders and work in physically demanding environments

• Communicate clearly and professionally

• Build positive working relationships with staff and vendors

• Work efficiently under deadlines

Physical Requirements

This is a physically active role involving climbing lifting up to 100 lbs kneeling bending and working in varying environmental conditions including heat cold odors noise and sometimes hazardous materials.

Minimum Qualifications

• Custodial experience and basic maintenance and repair skills

• Knowledge of safe tool use and workplace safety

• Basic computer skills (Microsoft Office)

• Valid Drivers License & reliable transportation

• Ability to pass a background check and drug screening

Preferred Qualifications

1 year experience in building maintenance or custodial work

Essential Personnel

This role supports emergency operations and may require reporting for duty during natural disasters weather events or emergency responses.
