About the Role:
The Hospital Outreach Post Suicidal Engagement Program (HOPE) was an initiative established by the Victorian state Government to provide assertive outreach to consumers following a suicidal crisis. GV Health HOPE has 2 sites and this position is located at the Shepparton site. The team consists of both Clinical and Lived/Living Experience staff to provide support to consumers and their families/carers to improve the wellbeing of the individual and decrease suicidality for the person. A person- centred approach is adopted by the team and the consumer can be engaged with HOPE for a up to 3 months.
This position is a dedicated position for Lived and Living Experience individuals. As a team member you will be working in collaboration with the clinical staff to provide support to consumers using your lived/living experience. This may involve providing Peer Support to consumers advocating for consumers when required assisting with linkages to other support services that the consumer feels may be of benefit and assisting the consumer to develop recovery focused goals. Training in Intentional Peer Support will be provided if this has not been completed as well as specific suicide intervention training.
