- Administers or orders diagnostic tests such as x-ray electrocardiogram and laboratory tests.
- Develops comprehensive plans of care.
- Examines clients to obtain information about their physical condition.
- Instructs and counsels clients about prescribed therapeutic regimens normal growth and development family planning emotional problems of daily living and health maintenance.
- Interprets diagnostic test results for deviations from normal.
- Makes tentative diagnoses and decisions about management and treatment of clients.
- Obtains compiles and records client medical data including health history progress notes and results of physical examination.
- Prescribes therapy or medication with physician approval.
- May supervise support and/or lower level employees.
- Provides services to the general public. This includes performing comprehensive health assessments including sports physicals routine health physicals and sexually transmitted infection (STI) screening and testing.
Additional Duties:
This position will require working three days per week at the Adult Health Promotion Clinic providing services to patients with HIV and two days per week at the Lowndes County Health Department providing services to the general public. Travel may be required to the Adult Health Promotion Clinic in Tifton GA and within our 10 county district as needed.
Minimum Qualifications
Doctorate or Masters degree in nursing from an accredited college or university and/or other education requirements approved by the Georgia Board of Nursing AND certification in the specialty area(s) approved by Georgia Board of Nursing AND two years of nursing experience AND Georgia license as a Registered Professional Nurse AND Georgia license as a APRN AND current certification in specialty area AND CPR certification.

Current State employees are subject to State Personnel Board rules regarding salary.
DPH accepts educational credential recognized by the Council for Higher Education Accreditation (CHEA) and/or the US Department of Education (DOE) will be considered. DPH will contact educational institutions to verify degree diploma licensure etc.
The candidate selected for this position may be subject to pre-employment drug screening and a criminal background check.
