Speech Language Pathologist
Summary
The goal of the Speech Language Pathologist is to assist students with special communicative needs; work collaboratively with school personnel to accomplish speech-language goals and objectives of Lincoln Charter School.
Duties and Responsibilities
- Follow all rules policies and procedures of Lincoln Charter School along with state and federal regulations including IDEA ASHA.
- Conduct screenings and assessments obtain diagnostic information analyze information and make recommendations regarding programs and services.
- Write corresponding speech-language reports to present to teams and develop individual education plans for each speech-language eligible student in collaboration with the classroom teacher parent LEA representative and other pertinent professionals.
- Plan therapy and use appropriate diagnostic tools and therapy techniques to support the IEP goal.
- Team with support specialists teachers and other school personnel in the delivery of services; plan conduct and assist in staff development activities.
- Provide appropriate information on an informal or formal basis regarding speech and language programs and services.
- Organize the school program cooperate with others to accomplish its goals coordinate program services with other student services and maintain EC records in ECats in accordance with established rules regulations and ethical standards.
- Familiarity with required therapy notes and plan of care to meet ASHA and IDEA requirements.
- Provide consultation to parents teachers and other appropriate school personnel; seek the assistance of teachers parents and others to meet the communication needs of students.
- Make recommendations and referrals for audiological/medical and related services.
- Participate in continuing education and professional growth activities related to speech-language education to maintain ASHA and Medical Board licensure.
- Perform related duties and responsibilities as required by the Exceptional Childrens Director and or Chief Administrator.
Qualifications
- Thorough knowledge of the theory principles and methods of speech pathology and their proper application in the education environment.
- Ability to screen evaluate and provide required speech pathology services.
- Proficiency in providing a wide range of treatment activities.
- Knowledge of equipment and assistive technology available to use in therapy.
- Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships as necessitated by work scope.
- Masters degree in Speech-Language Pathology.
- Certificate in Clinical Competence from the American Speech Language and Hearing Association (ASHA)
