& Digital Engagement Unit - Social Media
(for Dutch speaking students only)

2. Communication & Digital Engagement Unit Online Marketing & Advertising

3. Learning Innovation and Knowledge unit - FAIR for ALL MEAL

The Learning Innovation and Knowledge (LINK) Unit is part of Oxfam Novibs Programs Department which works towards our Manifesto 2030 vision of an inclusive (Equal) secure (Safe) equitable (Fair) and sustainable (Green) world.

LINK collaborates with colleagues and partners to ensure impactful programs based on sound methodologies strong evidence and continuous learning. This is achieved through four sub-teams: MEAL Research Innovation and Learning & Knowledge.

The MEAL Team ensures that programs are effectively monitored and evaluated to measure impact promote accountability and facilitate learning. This internship focuses on the FAIR for ALL (F4A) program implemented in 14 countries with global partners including SOMO TWN Africa Huairou Commission and the Dutch Ministry of Foreign Affairs. F4A strengthens civil society to advocate for inclusive sustainable and fair trade and value chains that respect human rights protect the environment and promote womens economic empowerment.

The intern will support the MEAL team in analyzing qualitative Outcome Harvesting data collected from using MaxQDA summarizing insights and helping create reports to inform future programs.

Key Tasks

Support cleaning and analysis of qualitative MEAL data.
Summarize findings and key insights for reports and presentations.
Participate in internal F4A MEAL and LINK meetings and events.

Who Are We Looking For

Masters or PhD student in a relevant field.
Good command of Microsoft Office (Outlook Excel); experience with MaxQDA or NVivo is a plus.
Experience in qualitative data analysis; quantitative analysis is a bonus.
Strong analytical and writing skills in English.
Interest in data visualization or storytelling to present insights effectively.
Commitment to feminist decolonial anti-racist and partner-led approaches.
Able to work independently and in diverse teams.
Eager to learn share knowledge and contribute to impactful programs.

4. Learning Innovation and Knowledge unit - Quantitative Research

The Learning Innovation and Knowledge (LINK) Unit is a specialty unit within the Programs Department which consists of seven goal units and two expertise units of which LINK is one.
The purpose of the Programs Department is to achieve impact by shaping policies designing thematic strategies and supporting managing and implementing programs projects and campaigns at global regional and national levels all contributing to our Manifesto 2030 vision of an inclusive (Equal) secure (Safe) equitable (Fair) and sustainable (Green) world.

The LINK Unit supports connects and collaborates with colleagues and partners to ensure that impactful multi-country programs are informed by sound research methodologies effective monitoring and solid evidence of progress towards objectives as well as lessons learned on what works for our Equal Green Fair and Safe goals.
This is achieved within and beyond the Oxfam confederation through four sub-teams: Research Monitoring Evaluation Accountability and Learning (MEAL) Innovation and Learning and Knowledge.


The Research Sub-Team is made up of a diverse group of enthusiastic quantitative and qualitative researchers. Their work aims to:

Understand the effectiveness and impact of programs to show Oxfam Novibs contribution to social change.

dentify opportunities for positive change.

Contribute to the strategic and organizational direction of Oxfam Novib.
4
Enhance accessibility and dissemination of knowledge.


This internship will be hosted within the Research Team engaging with ongoing projects around activism understanding and engaging with the Dutch public and other relevant topics. There will be ample opportunity to learn new skills and collaborate with a diverse feminist and passionate group of action researchers.

Key Tasks

Construct online surveys (configuring questions options and layout for effective data collection) importing and exporting data.
Conduct initial coding and thematic analysis using MAXQDA to extract and organize key insights from qualitative data.
Support in accurate annotation and data collection during focus groups or interviews.
Conduct literature and desk reviews summarizing key findings on topics such as activism campaigning fair financing and related areas.
Assist with designing and formatting visual information such as infographics reports and presentations.

Who Are We Looking For

Currently enrolled in a Masters degree in a relevant field. Students in social sciences or data science are particularly encouraged to apply.
Very good command of Microsoft Office (Outlook PowerPoint Excel and Word) and ideally experience with software related to data analysis (e.g. Python MAXQDA). Knowledge of design tools such as Canva is an asset.
Experience with cleaning and organizing quantitative data and conducting descriptive and/or inferential statistical analysis.
Excellent written and spoken English skills. Knowledge of other languages such as French or Arabic is welcome.
Strong cultural sensitivity and gender awareness.
Organized punctual and attentive to detail.

5. SAFE Unit - Conflict and Peacebuilding

The SAFE Unit within Oxfam Novibs Programs Department develops and co-implements (influencing) programs in the areas of Promoting Safe and Resilient Communities and Supporting People on the Move. The Unit is responsible for upholding and promoting Oxfams humanitarian mandate through program and proposal development resource mobilization advocacy and campaigns in the the fiscal year 2023/2024 Oxfam reached more than 12 million crisis-affected people across 276 projects in Africa Asia Europe Latin America and the Middle East.

This internship will support the SAFE Unit in mapping Oxfam and partners policy positions on topics including the root causes of conflict peacebuilding economic costs of war and the triple humanitarian development and peace nexus. The insights will inform the Units future policy and advocacy positions aligned with Oxfams multi-annual strategy.

Key Tasks
Conduct background research and support drafting of policy documents/briefs on conflict peacebuilding economic costs of war and the triple nexus.
Assist in proposal writing and donor reporting for the SAFE Unit.
Support project implementation including coordination of learning and influencing activities and preparation of quarterly reports.
Draft the SAFE Unit quarterly newsletter and other internal/external communications materials.
Participate in team meetings and contribute to brainstorming sessions.
Perform ad hoc tasks as needed including note-taking event organization logistics administrative support translation and editing.

Who Are We Looking For
You must be currently enrolled in a PhD program/university. This is a strict requirement for this internship.
Studying a relevant field such as conflict studies international relations political science sociology law or a related discipline.
Interest in or experience with conflict human rights advocacy policy analysis campaigns politics social change or civil society.
Excellent research writing editing organizational and coordination skills.
Analytical and independent thinker creative problem-solver.
Affinity with coordination communications and knowledge management.
Highly motivated proactive result-oriented and creative.
Strong cultural sensitivity and gender awareness.
Fluency in English required; fluency in French and/or Spanish is an advantage.

6. GREEN Unit Impact assessment on agrobiodiversity and nutrition in Zimbabwe

This internship is hosted by the Cultivating Change program and specifically the Seeds for Resilience team ( within the GREEN unit at Oxfam Novib. The focus of the internship will be on an Impact assessment on agrobiodiversity and nutrition in Zimbabwe.

Key tasks:
The intern will work with the Agrobiodiversity colleagues in the seeds team at Oxfam Novib and country partner organisations in Zimbabwe.

The main task for the intern will be to analyse existing national datasets on specific impacts of our community level work on human development indicators in the community with a focus on agrobiodiversity child nutrition and gender-based violence.

Using the results of this analysis the intern will prepare a comprehensive report that presents the statistical findings interprets their implications and provides evidence-based recommendations for Oxfams future programming.

The intern will be part of the seeds team and gain insight in the diverse areas of the work in our approach for a more sustainable and equitable farming system from the seeds aspect to agroecological practices over local value chains all the way to policy level. The conclusions in the final report will drawn in view of the bigger context of our work.

Who Are We Looking For
Specific requirement for this position is following a masters degree in statistics quantitative research or food systems and/or agricultural systems
A good understanding of seed and food systems and agrobiodiversity issues
Profound experience in quantitative data analysis and writing of analytical reports
Good communication skills in English

7. Fair Financial Systems and Investments Unit Support to tax justice and new economic model

The FAIR Financial Systems and Investments Unit co-implements (influencing) programs addressing extreme inequality and climate change driven by todays growth-focused economic system. It focuses on a fair tax system and public spending responsible investments & entrepreneurship beyond growth and new economy thinking.


The units different teams (Fair Finance Public Finance Inequality & New Economy Impact Investment & ISME development) all aim to contribute to this shift towards an alternative economic system. Key Tasks
Assist in research and writing for thematic papers
Create content for communications materials such as newsletters blog posts webpages social media infographics and case studies
Be involved in overall project management cycles including drafting input for fundraising reporting and monitoring and evaluation when needed
Contribute to ongoing research and advocacy efforts related to fair taxation inclusive & responsible business models impact investment and climate finance
Share research findings and insights through presentations workshops articles or other tools
Support with community engagement and related activities (e.g. SME Alumni Network Business Competition etc.)
Assist with supporting and preparing meetings/events (offline and online)

Who Are We Looking For

A highly motivated result-oriented team player with a positive and proactive attitude
Interest in the fields of fair taxation and beyond growth/new economy thinking
Strong English language skills; additional language skills in French or Spanish are an asset
Strong organizational skills and ability to handle multiple tasks simultaneously
Strong research writing and communication skills

Internship Eligibility Criteria

Applicants to the internships at Oxfam Novib must meet the following requirements:

  • Be a student of 18 years or older
  • Be enrolled at a Dutch educational institution (first level university degree higher schools (HBO) or other) for the whole duration of the internship
  • Have the legal right to live and work in The Netherlands or be prepared to obtain the right to follow an internship as part of their study in the Dutch educational institution. A three-partite internship agreement (between Oxfam Novib the educational institution and the student) will be signed to that effect.
  • Have less than 3 years of relevant full-time work experience.
  • Not having been in employment with Oxfam Novib previously.

Please note: this internship is formulated as work experience to develop an understanding of career objectives. It is not meant to be a thesis internship.

Our offer

  • An intern in Oxfam Novib is offered an internship contract for the duration of the internship and a monthly allowance based on 450- per month on a basis of a 36-hour work week pro-rata in case of less hours. The minimum possible hours for an internship is 24 hours per week.
  • The intern is expected to have a student OV card; however if this is not the case a reimbursement of commuting costs will be offered.
  • Oxfam Novib has a hybrid working policy: partly from office partly from home. Interns are expected to be on-site in our office in The Hague at least two days a week with remote work flexibility.
  • During the internship the intern is supervised. The period of the internships takes place between March 2026 and July 2026 (approximately a period of 5 months An earlier start date is not feasible.
    Our preference is to work with the UNL agreement for formalizing the internship. Please check with the educational institution during the application process whether this is acceptable.
