Job Summary

QUALIFICATIONS:

  1. Bachelors Degree or higher in Early Childhood or Child Development or related field with infants and toddler experience.
  2. Minimum of 5 years of early childhood classroom experience
  3. Previous supervisory and/or management experience is preferred
  4. High level of experience with competence of on-line data management systems(s).
  5. Working knowledge of computers and computer software especially the Microsoft Office Suite and Google Apps such a Google Sheets.
  6. CPR/AED and First Aid Certified.
  7. Ability to handle confidential information.
  8. Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  9. Responsibility of employee to obtain and maintain all training(s) certificates(s) approval(s) etc. And provide documentation to the business office before expiration of said document(s).
  10. Must be able to lift 20 pounds.
  11. Required to have a physical presence at the designated job site each scheduled work day.
  12. Must have regular and reliable job attendance performance and physical ability to do the job.

PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES: (Other duties may be assigned)

  1. Monitors and ensures the implementation of the education goals and objectives of the Early Head Start Program.
  2. Monitors and ensures the implementation of family services including the Parent Committee and Parenting Curriculum.
  3. Observes supervises and evaluates Child Development Specialists and Child Care Provider Assistants.
  4. Supports family child care provider owners and administrators in the implementation of the Head Start Program Performance Standards.
  5. Acts as a resource person for developmentally appropriate activities and practices.
  6. Provides staff and parents with training and information; plans and conducts applicable workshops.
  7. Ability to supervise and provide direction to adults as well as children
  8. Ability to plan organize implement and evaluate programs and services.
  9. Maintains all required written documentation including but not limited to classroom operations and staff performance.
  10. Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with clients families outside professionalism agencies and the public
  11. Compiles necessary statistical data and completes all necessary and required reports; completes computer data entry using program specific software.
  12. Ensures the Head Start Act Head Start Performance Standards and Licensing Regulations are enforced.
  13. Substitute coverage in Early Head Start classroom as needed.
  14. Perform other duties as assigned by St. Joseph County ISD Administration.

PERFORMANCE APPRAISALS: Director of Early Childhood Services

TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT: A 260-day position. Salary and conditions of employment

are determined by the Board of Education.
