Position Summary
The Tool Coating Technician commonly known internally as the Teflonizer is responsible for preparing coating and maintaining production tools molds and components using non-stick heat-resistant coatings. This role directly supports manufacturing performance by ensuring tools have the proper surface properties to prevent sticking reduce downtime and maintain product quality.
This position requires routine work around high-temperature ovens and elevated heat environments.
Key Responsibilities
Coating & Preparation
- Clean sand mask and prepare tooling for coating.
- Apply non-stick and low-friction coatings according to REHAU standards.
- Operate spray equipment curing ovens and high-temperature processing stations.
- Monitor coating thickness adhesion finish quality and surface consistency.
Tool Maintenance & Support
- Inspect tooling for wear or coating breakdown.
- Re-coat or repair tools based on production needs.
- Document coating batches tooling processed and turnaround times.
- Coordinate with Production Quality and Maintenance teams.
Quality & Safety
- Perform visual and adhesion checks on coated tools.
- Follow all REHAU safety policies including heat-exposure precautions PPE requirements and chemical handling standards.
- Maintain a clean organized and ventilated work area.
- Immediately report equipment issues or safety concerns.
Continuous Improvement
- Recommend process improvements to increase coating durability or efficiency.
- Assist with troubleshooting tool issues linked to coating wear heat exposure or adhesion concerns.
Required Qualifications
- Prior manufacturing industrial coating painting or maintenance experience preferred.
- Ability to follow SOPs and safety documentation.
- Familiarity with basic hand tools.

Physical Requirements
- Ability to lift up to 50 lbs
- Prolonged standing bending and tool handling

- Manufacturing environment with elevated temperatures curing ovens fumes and coatings
