Job Summary

The Director of Nursing Opportunity:

The Director of Nursing (DON) provides strategic leadership and operational oversight for all nursing functions within the Nursing Home. This position ensures delivery of high-quality person-centered care that aligns with regulatory standards evidence-based practice and organizational goals. The DON is accountable for the supervision direction and coordination of all nursing personnel and is responsible for ensuring the facility maintains compliance with State Federal and Joint Commission requirements.

Working collaboratively with the Nursing Home Administrator and interdisciplinary team the DON develops implements and evaluates nursing policies quality assurance programs staff development initiatives and performance improvement strategies to achieve excellence in resident care outcomes.

Compensation and Benefits:

  • The starting pay range for this role is $108139 to $128565 based on experience.
  • This job is full-time and in person.

  • As a full-time employee of NCHC you would be eligible for the Wisconsin Retirement System (WRS). The WRS is a hybrid defined benefit plan. It contains elements of both a 401(k) or defined contribution plan and a defined benefit plan. Participating staff contribute 6.95% and NCHC will match this at 100% each pay period!

What Qualifies You:

Required:

  • Bachelors Degree in Nursing (BSN) from an accredited college or university.
  • Current licensure as a Registered Nurse (RN) in the State of Wisconsin.
  • Current BLS Certification.
  • Minimum of 4 years of progressive nursing leadership or supervisory experience in a long-term care or skilled nursing setting.

Preferred:

  • Masters Degree in Nursing Healthcare Administration or Leadership.
  • Ten or more years of progressively responsible nursing experience.

What a Director of Nursing does at NCHC:

  • Directs coordinates and evaluates all nursing services to ensure delivery of compassionate evidence-based care.
  • Maintains standards of clinical practice in compliance with state and federal regulations.
  • Develops implements and revises nursing policies and procedures to ensure consistent quality of care.
  • Oversees resident assessments care plans and documentation to ensure accuracy timeliness and regulatory compliance.
  • Reviews residents progress notes and orders daily; proactively addresses changes in condition or care needs.
  • Collaborates with physicians interdisciplinary team members and family members to ensure optimal resident outcomes.
  • Leads quality improvement initiatives and serves as an active participant in QAPI meetings.
  • Investigates adverse events and caregiver misconduct ensuring appropriate corrective actions and documentation.
  • Monitors care outcomes and trends to identify areas for improvement.
  • Ensures adherence to infection prevention and control standards and implements performance improvement plans as needed.
  • Reviews all regulatory memos and implements action plans to meet new requirements.
  • Maintains collaborative relationships with surveyors and ensures readiness for state and federal inspections.
  • Ensures accurate and timely completion of mandatory reports investigations and follow-up actions.
  • Establishes staffing levels based on acuity regulatory standards and budget parameters.
  • Participates in recruitment selection orientation and retention strategies for nursing staff.
  • Oversees employee schedules approves time-off requests and evaluates performance.
  • Develops training programs and fosters professional development through ongoing education and coaching.
  • Ensures resource allocation supports both quality and cost-effectiveness of resident care.
  • Ensures resident satisfaction through responsive person-centered service.
  • Investigates and resolves care concerns in collaboration with families and interdisciplinary staff.
  • Fosters open communication and transparency with residents and families regarding care plans and outcomes.
  • All other duties as assigned.
