Meet Our Team:
The Global Localization Platform teamis responsible foranautomated string management platformthat transforms how we handle user-facing text across all our products as well as the tools and tooling components used to manage localizations through self-service within our internal suite of tools called Studio. This platform significantly boosts the productivity of Copywriters and Translation Operations while improving the workflow for development teams that integrate language strings. By automating string collection translation and deployment the team ensures higher-quality English and translated strings are delivered faster and more short our teams work underpins thelocalizationefforts that make Warner Bros. Discoverys streaming products truly global.
Roles & Responsibilities:
- We are hiring a Senior Software Engineer to join the Global Localization Platform team inBangalore India. As a Senior Engineer:
- You are a recognized subject matter expert in one or more areas of our production systems.
- You have consistentlydemonstratedthe ability to independently design build and ship high-quality features at scale
- You work on complex problems with diverse technical dimensions proactively bringing clarity to ambiguous requirements and proposing sound scalable solutions.
- Youoperatewith a high degree of autonomy requiring minimal oversight.
- You take pride in delivering robustmaintainableand well-tested code that meets both functional and non-functional requirements.
- You continuously improve the quality of our systems and our engineering practices thinking long-term about the health of our codebasesobservabilityand documentation.

- Your impact goes beyond code. You are a persuasive communicator who influences your peers through thoughtful design and codereviewsand you adapt your communication style to different audiences.
- Youfrequentlyinteract with stakeholders and adjacentteamsand you help align cross-functional efforts through strong technical writing and documentation.
- You mentor and support less experienced engineers helping them become productive and successful team members.
- Design develop andmaintainscalable backend and frontend services that power WBDs localization infrastructure enabling fast and high-quality delivery of multilingual content across platforms like HBO Max Discoveryand CNN.
- Take ownership of major technical components of theGlobal Localizationplatform contributing to architectural decisions and proposing solutions for performancescalabilityand reliability challenges.
- Lead by example in writing cleanmaintainableand well-tested code across technologies includingJavaReactandTypeScript.
- Drive feature implementation from idea to production breaking down requirements proposing designs estimating effort writing code creating tests and monitoring after deployment.
- Activelyparticipatein code reviews and design discussions helping raise the technical bar and foster a culture of engineering excellence and collaboration.
- Contribute to building andmaintainingCI/CD pipelines infrastructure configurations and cloud deployments using AWS-native services and DevOps tooling.
- Take a leading role in troubleshooting and resolving complex production issues analyzing logs metricstracesand system behavior toidentifyroot causes and define long-term improvements.
- Continuously improve observability and system resilience through implementation of real-time dashboards proactivealertingand fault tolerance patterns.
- Work closely with product managers localizationexpertsand other engineers to deliver features that are robust usable user-friendlyand well-integrated into the broader ecosystem.
- Support and mentor junior engineers promoting technical growth and knowledge sharing across the team.
- Stay up to date with modern engineering practicestoolsand architectural patterns; drive adoption of relevant innovations within the team.
- You activelyoptimizeteam processes to improve efficiency and quality driving long-term improvements alongside short-term deliverables.
What to Bring:
- 5 - 9yearsof professional software engineering experience delivering robust high-scale backend andfrontendsystems in production environments.
- Advanced experience withbackend developmentusingJavaPythonandandfrontend developmentusingReactandTypeScript.
- Hands-onexpertisewithAWS cloud services particularlyServerlessLambda API GatewayStep Functions S3 DynamoDB CloudWatch andEventBridge.
- Strong understanding ofmicroservice architecture asynchronoussystemsand communication protocols (RESTgRPC event-driven).
- Experience withDevOps practicesincluding Docker Kubernetes CI/CD (e.g.GitHub Actions)and infrastructure-as-code tools (Terraform CloudFormation).
- Practical knowledge of databases:PostgreSQLDynamoDBand caching/search solutions such asRedisandElasticsearch.
- Strong focus on systemobservability comfortable setting up dashboards defining alerts and analyzing operational data using tools likeCloudwatchPrometheusKibanaand Grafana.
- Familiarity withlocalization or internationalization challenges(e.g.ICUformatstring management translation workflows Unicode handling) is a plus.
- Proven ability to break down complex problems design modularsolutionsand communicate technical decisions clearly.
- Demonstrated mentoring ability and active participation in raising team quality through reviews pairing and documentation.
- Effectivecommunicatoracross disciplines capable of presenting and justifying technical approaches to peers and stakeholders.
- Experience working in agile product-driven environments and contributing meaningfully to planning and prioritization.
