Job Description

As Technical Developer for Hybrid Education Projects you will support the delivery of funded innovation projects focused on hybrid learning and robotics lab development. The role combines technical development (approximately 60% of your time) with educational support (approximately 40% of your time) ensuring high-quality integration of hardware and digital platforms into teaching environments.

Your technical development skills will focus on:

Virtualisation of a Turtlebot robotics lab. To support our education and some of our research activities we are looking to create a remotely accessible small scale smart environment. A server side will integrate sensors actuators and robots whilst the user interface will allow for remote access and simulation based learning.

Development of a Logic Learning Board. We aim to give students both practical hands-on experience and develop their simulation and modelling skills when designing and building digital circuits. The hardware will allow students to build a variety of processor components whilst simulation tools will facilitate hybrid and online education.

For both projects the main education support activities will take the form of creating user guides answering technical queries and taking part in collaborative efforts to create learning and assessment activities.

The role sits within the Department of Mathematics and Computer Science and you will be part of a small dynamic team committed to educational innovation. This work will also require collaboration with teaching staff student assistants and technical support teams. The department is committed to educational innovation and digital transformation and this position plays a key role in advancing that mission.

This 1.0 FTE position is designed to span at least one academic year aligning with the timelines and scope of the funded projects. Recruitment is time-sensitive with the goal of onboarding within one month to meet project milestones.

Job Requirements

  • A Bachelors or Masters degree in Computer Science Electronic Engineering Mechanical Engineering Educational Technology or a related field.
  • Experience with robotics and digital platforms (e.g. Turtlebot) virtualisation tools UI design server-side applications mechatronic or embedded systems particularly the integration of different systems.
  • Familiarity with digital learning environments and educational software.
  • Experience in creating technical documentation user guides instructional material.
  • Strong programming skills (e.g. Python C or similar).
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a multidisciplinary team.
  • Good communication skills an aptitude to learn and a service-oriented mindset.
  • Proficiency in English is required; Dutch is a plus but not essential.
