Scala SME

We are seeking a highly skilled and knowledgeable Scala Subject Matter Expert (SME) to join our technology team. The successful candidate will provide expert guidance mentorship and hands-on development in Scala playing a key role in building maintaining and optimizing scalable high-performance applications. This position requires deep technical expertise a collaborative mindset and the ability to deliver solutions aligned with business goals.

Key Responsibilities:

Provide subject matter expertise in Scala programming architecture and best practices.

Design develop and maintain scalable and high-performance software solutions using Scala and related technologies.

Collaborate with cross-functional teams (development QA product management) to define technical requirements and deliver innovative solutions.

Review code mentor junior engineers and promote best practices in functional programming and software engineering.

Optimize application performance scalability and security.

Participate in architectural discussions and decision-making processes.

Ensure software solutions adhere to industry standards and compliance requirements.

Research and evaluate emerging technologies frameworks and tools relevant to Scala development.

Contribute to technical documentation and knowledge sharing within the team.

Troubleshoot debug and resolve complex technical issues in production and development environments.

Required Qualifications:

Bachelors or Masters degree in Computer Science Software Engineering or a related field or equivalent professional experience.

5 years of experience in software development with significant hands-on expertise in Scala.

Deep understanding of functional programming principles and the Scala ecosystem (including sbt Akka Play Framework or Spark).

Strong experience with distributed systems APIs and microservices architectures.

Proficient in relational and NoSQL databases.

Solid understanding of software lifecycle CI/CD pipelines and version control (e.g. Git).

Proven ability to mentor guide and influence technical teams.

Excellent problem-solving analytical and communication skills.

Must be legally authorized to work in the United States and reside within the US.

Compensation and Benefits:

Annual Salary: $135000 - $165000 commensurate with experience and qualifications.
