The School of Nursing at California State University Fullerton invites applications for a Full-Time Lecturer position in Nursing Simulation and Skills Laboratory Education with an appointment to begin January/August 2026.

The educator will provide leadership and oversight of the Schools simulation laboratories to enhance student learning and support faculty in integrating simulation into nursing education across undergraduate graduate and Doctor of Nursing Practice (DNP) programs. The successful candidate will manage the day-to-day operations of the simulation labs lead the lab staff ensure compliance with safety and accreditation standards and collaborate with faculty to implement evidence-based simulation and skills training that reflect current nursing practice.

Faculty members with expertise in simulation pedagogy clinical skills education and laboratory management are sought to support students learning experiences across undergraduate graduate and Doctor of Nursing Practice (DNP) programs. The successful candidate will demonstrate excellence in teaching commitment to innovative educational practices and the ability to integrate simulation-based learning into the nursing curriculum.

Position
CSUF Nursing faculty are committed teacher/scholars/clinicians who bring research and clinical practice to life for students in classrooms clinical settings simulation laboratories and individually mentored projects. They are engaged with professional nursing organizations clinical agencies and academic communities. The Simulation & Skills Lab Educator will provide leadership and oversight of the Schools simulation laboratories to enhance student learning and support faculty in integrating simulation into nursing education. This faculty member will manage laboratory operations lead lab staff ensure compliance with safety and accreditation standards and collaborate with faculty to implement evidence-based simulation and skills training that reflects current nursing practice. Teaching responsibilities may include assigned course units within simulation skills laboratories and other nursing courses as needed.

Key Responsibilities

  • Manage and coordinate the operations of simulation laboratories (main lab and womens health lab) including scheduling safety protocols and compliance with institutional INACSL and BRN requirements
  • Oversee equipment maintenance inventory management and supply ordering to ensure optimal laboratory functionality
  • Maintain and update Simulation Lab Canvas shell in collaboration with School of Nursing faculty
  • Provide leadership and direction for laboratory development to align with curricular and instructional goals
  • Supervise and mentor the Simulation Lab Technician and serve as backup during the Simulation Lab Technicians absence
  • Support faculty professional development in simulation design implementation and evidence-based debriefing techniques
  • Collaborate with faculty to design and implement simulation activities that foster clinical reasoning critical thinking and competency development
  • Assess students psychomotor and simulation performance; provide remediation and constructive feedback as appropriate
  • Maintain comprehensive records of student attendance laboratory usage and learning outcomes
  • Serve as liaison to School of Nursing committees interprofessional education (IPE) initiatives and community partners
  • Maintain BLS instructor certification and coordinate bi-monthly classes for students staff and faculty
  • Teach assigned course units within the School of Nursing as needed
  • Perform other duties as assigned by the Director of the School of Nursing including fit testing for faculty and students and hosting clinical experiences when student groups are displaced or upon faculty illness

Required Qualifications

  • Must meet California Board of Registered Nursing (BRN) faculty requirements including:
    • Masters degree which include course work in nursing education or administration from an accredited institution
    • Direct patient care experience within the previous five (5) years that can be met by: (A) One (1) year continuous full-time or its equivalent experience providing direct patient care as a registered nurse OR (B) One (1) academic year of registered nurse level clinical teaching experience that demonstrate clinical competency
  • Eligible for Registered Nurse (RN) licensure in California
  • At least five (5) years of experience providing direct patient care as a Registered Nurse within the last five years
  • Demonstrated experience in simulation and/or skills laboratory environments in a hospital or academic setting
  • Commitment to excellence in teaching and learning (classroom virtual simulation laboratory) consistent with the nursing programs vision mission and goals as demonstrated during on-campus interview and in application materials
  • The ability to work collegially with diverse faculty staff and students
  • Commitment to working successfully with a diverse student population including first-generation college students

Preferred Qualifications

  • Doctoral degree in Nursing Education or Administration from an accredited institution meeting California Board of Registered Nursing (BRN) faculty requirements
  • Certification as a Certified Simulation Healthcare Education or eligibility to obtain certification within one year of appointment
  • Current certification as an American Heart Association (AHA) Basic Life Support (BLS) Instructor; Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) Instructor preferred
  • Demonstrated experience in faculty development interprofessional education and simulation-based learning
  • Strong organizational leadership and communication skills

Compensation
The Full-Time Lecturer (Academic Year) classification salary range is $6221 to $13224 monthly (12 monthly payments per academic year). Anticipated salary range: $7500 to $8000 per month.
