ABOUT US:Alberta Animal Rescue Crew Society (AARCS)is a registered non-profit charity located in Calgary Alberta helping over 4000 animals find loving adoptive homes each year. Our mission is to rescue and rehome animals in need and provide community support programs that help people and their pets.

The Role: The Intake & Community Programs Supervisor will be responsible for overseeing the intake of animals into the organization and overseeing our SNAP and TNR initiatives. You have a natural ability to connect with people and are friendly approachable and able to provide exceptional service while remaining open-minded and non-judgmental. A strong understanding of animal behaviour health and population management is essential in supporting both the intake process and community-based programming. You are organized and capable of prioritizing and coordinating multiple moving parts. Youre able to maintain a flexible schedule and are willing to accommodate intakes based on program needs.

POSITION REQUIREMENTS:

  • Genuine interest in animal welfare.

  • Emotional resilience to handle difficult or stressful situations.

  • High level of conflict resolution skills; ability to work calmly and proactively through challenges

  • Moderate level of office software proficiency in MS Word Excel Internet Google Docs and databases.

  • Strong organizational and technical skills.

  • Proven track record of being able to cultivate positive working relationships.

  • Personable with the ability to develop a positive rapport with stakeholders.

  • Exceptional animal handling experience required; including ability or willingness to work with feral and under socialized animals.

  • A quick thinker and efficient self-starter who takes initiative; has the ability to set priorities and manage workloads with minimal supervision.

PRINCIPAL ACCOUNTABILITIES:

  • Coordinate and manage all aspects of intake including surrenders transfers and community requests.

  • Collaborate with the Director of Animal Health to coordinate the intake of high medical needs animals.

  • Plan coordinate and execute a monthly community day or outreach events particularly with partner First Nation communities to strengthen relationships provide support and promote AARCS programs.

  • Ensure all paperwork and medical records are received for intakes and collaborate with shelter/foster teams to ensure adequate space is assigned for incoming animals.

  • Oversee the Food Assistance Program including volunteer coordination inventory management client communications and ensuring clients receive timely and compassionate support.

  • Coordinate the Compassionate Care program in conjunction with the Animal Health department.

  • Coordinate SNAP (Spay/Neuter Assistance Program) in collaboration with the volunteer SNAP Coordinator including helping with client communication appointment scheduling and pick up.

  • Plan and coordinate TNR (Trap-Neuter-Return) operations including trapping scheduling surgeries and providing post-operative support.

  • Recruit onboard train and support volunteers involved in SNAP TNR and community efforts providing ongoing guidance and engagement.

  • Assist with the development of educational materials or resources for community members on animal welfare population management and responsible pet ownership.

  • Collaborate across departments to support organizational goals program evaluation and process improvements.

  • Support shelter teams by assisting with physical intake on shifts and helping with medication administration when needed.

  • Represent the organization professionally and positively in the community with pet owners and with partner groups.

  • Respond to public inquiries about intake SNAP and TNR in a timely and compassionate manner.

  • Maintain accurate program records and compile monthly statistics and written reports.

  • Provide on-call support to foster homes and/or shelter caregivers in the case of an emergency during a one-week rotation as needed but approximately once every 12 weeks.

  • Other tasks as assigned.

Education/Training:

  • Minimum high school diploma or equivalent.

  • Minimum three years of experience in a shelter environment is considered an asset.

  • Experience in Pet Point is considered an asset.

Other Requirements:

  • Valid drivers license.

Working Conditions:

  • Office environment within a busy animal shelter with a moderate to loud noise level.

  • The position may involve exposure to dangerous and/or diseased animals.

  • Ability to sit for extended periods of time.

  • Ability to walk reach overhead and lift up to 50lbs.

Details:

Position: Permanent Full-Time

Shifts:Standard is Monday - Friday with some weekends & evenings to accommodate business needs.

Location: 5060 74 Ave SE Calgary AB T2C 3C9. On-site in the shelter and field work.

Salary Range:$51000 to $61000annually based on experience and qualifications.
