LOCATION: Onsite in Columbia MD

Network Engineer

We are looking for an experienced Network Engineer to design implement and maintain our network infrastructure. You will ensure optimal network performance security and reliability while supporting business operations and growth.

Responsibilities

Network Operations and Management

Design configure and deploy network solutions including routers switches firewalls and load balancers
Monitor network performance and troubleshoot connectivity issues to ensure maximum uptime
Perform routine maintenance updates and patches on network equipment
Maintain detailed network documentation including diagrams configurations and procedures
Manage network capacity planning and recommend infrastructure improvements

Security and Compliance

Implement and maintain network security measures including firewalls VPNs and access controls
Conduct regular security audits and vulnerability assessments
Respond to security incidents and implement remediation measures
Ensure compliance with industry standards and regulatory requirements

Support and Collaboration

Provide tier 2/3 technical support for network-related issues
Collaborate with IT teams vendors and partners on projects and initiatives
Participate in on-call rotation for after-hours support
Mentor junior team members

Project Work

Lead or contribute to network infrastructure projects and upgrades
Recommend new technologies and solutions
Develop and implement disaster recovery and business continuity plans

Qualifications

Education & Experience

3 years of hands-on experience in network engineering or administration
Bachelors degree in Computer Science Information Technology or related field or equivalent experience
Experience with enterprise-level network environments

Technical Skills

Knowledge of networking protocols (TCP/IP BGP OSPF EIGRP MPLS)
Proficiency with network hardware from vendors such as Cisco Juniper Arista or Palo Alto
Experience with network monitoring and management tools
Understanding of network security principles and best practices
Familiarity with cloud networking (AWS Azure or GCP)
Knowledge of scripting languages (Python Bash or PowerShell) for automation

Certifications

CCNA CCNP or equivalent certification preferred
Additional certifications (CompTIA Network JNCIA or security certifications) preferred

Preferred Qualifications

Experience with SD-WAN technologies
Experience with datacenter networking and operations
Experience with Juniper F5 and Cisco devices
Experience with Cloud networking

Work Environment

Hybrid work arrangement with on-site presence required for datacenter maintenance
Occasional evening or weekend work for maintenance windows
Participation in on-call rotation

The annual salary range for this position is $94000-$152375. Placement within the salary range is based on a variety of factors including relevant experience knowledge skills and other factors permitted by law.
