ABOUT LIFEMOVES
LifeMoves is the largest and most effective provider of housing and services for neighbors experiencing homelessness in Silicon Valley since 1987. Our Mission is to end homelessness by providing interim housing supportive services and building collaborative partnerships. With 40 programs LifeMoves gives our neighbors experiencing homelessness a temporary place to call home while providing intensive customized case management through site-based programs and community outreach.
POSITION PURPOSE
LifeMoves and Operations-Food Services are seeking experienced individuals for the position of FoodService Coordinator II to perform a variety of work which may include preparing serving and storingfood; developing menus ordering inspecting and stocking food and supplies assisting in maintainingthe kitchen and other dining areas in a clean and sanitary condition; performing routine tasks related todelivering food and supplies; and possibly serving food at several shelter sites. Successful hires will beplaced in under the Food Services Supervisor and may be assigned to support South Bay and may beasked to provide coverage for our North Bay shelter sitesThis position will cross train with food service operations and will assist with other operational functions
as needed.
The ideal candidate will possess the following:
Two years of experience in an institutional or commercial kitchen which has included thepreparation and serving of food and the cleaning of kitchen equipment and facilities.
Ability to ensure food is always kept safe by following food safety sanitation guidelines
Food Handler Certification or ServSafe Manager Certification Proficient
Computer skills and overall tech-savviness
Professional experience in food service or nutrition-related field
Must hold a current drivers license and proof of liability insurance.
Must be able to pass a background check
Excellent customer service skills
Experience as an effective team player
Ability to lift 30 pounds safely and keep up with the physical demands of the job
Duties may include but are not limited to the following
Share our passion of providing meals with dignity or our diverse community
Act as a liaison between food services and community partners/volunteers to create astructured meal plan for clients daily
Assist Cooks in the preparation of balanced meals as directed.
Knowledge of food safety.
Participate in menu planning to support the dietary intake and special meal accommodations ofclients
Implement composting practices within the organization to minimize food waste
Drive a truck or van to deliver food and supplies; may maintain basic records related to vehicleuse such as gas/mileage and service reports.
Create a healthy environment by serving clients during meal service to develop a betterrelationship with food
Coordinate and source food from local food banks donors including corporations restaurantsand faith-based groups.
Source items from the local food bank to prep cook and distribute across all sites
Ability to work independently and complete tasks in a timely manner.
May direct the work of clients who are assigned to clean and prepare food or assist in relatedroutine tasks defined by Program Directors
Survey and collect feedback from staff & clients regarding the quality of meals.
Maintain compliance with all food and health agency related inspections.
Complete monthly reporting of activities for the Second Harvest Food Bank and other partners.
Other Duties
Clean items used in the kitchen such as dishes pots pans containers carts and equipment.
Clean facilities including sweeping mopping and sanitizing work areas such as floors pantriesand warehouse and trucks; empty garbage cans.
Occasionally assist in cooking.
Assist with supplies and deliveries including signing for bringing in and/or storing items.
Encourage clients to make use of programs like CalFresh Snap WIC to access food.
Assure the proper care and maintenance of vehicle.
Contribute to the food service team by cross training for all positions.
Attend and participate in training and other continuing education career and professionaldevelopment opportunities.
Participate in general staff meetings 1:1s and other meetings and events planned by the FoodServices Manager.
