About the Role
This position will lead the development and execution of logistics strategies to optimize Harman Automotives supply chain operations for each OEM in Japan in reconciliation with SCM Automotive. Key focus areas include inbound/outbound transport management (shipment mode delivery schedule freight cost etc.) Japan OEM warehouse stock management (stocktaking warehouse operational issues etc.) logistics solutions and network efficiency to ensure exceptional customer delivery performance for future new project and restudy improve current mass production. The role requires close collaboration with OEMs internal teams suppliers (Harman plants) and 3PL/4PL partners to drive cost-effectiveness and agility in a dynamic market. This position is also responsible for placing orders in SAP for a few Japan OEM due to no Harman production plant in addition this is first position at Harman Japan expecting to review and improve current logistics and SCM operation related in Japan. When supply issues happen this position will be actively involved in coordination.
This position reports to the Regional Director of Logistics Operation at China (60%) and keep dot line report to Manager of Automotive Sourcing/Japan Make & Deliver lead in Japan (40%).
What You Will Do
Develop and implement Japan-specific logistics strategies aligned with reginal and global objectives.
Optimize transportation networks (road sea air) and warehouse operations for cost speed and resilience.
Manage relationships with Logistics Service Providers (LSPs) and ensure compliance with Japans regulatory and customs requirements.
Oversee 4PL-managed transportation regional trucking and JIT (just-in-time) delivery processes.
Monitor KPIs (on-time delivery cost per unit inventory accuracy) and drive continuous improvement initiatives.
Resolve Logistics escalations and act as the primary point of contact for regional stakeholders.
Support RFQs by providing accurate logistics cost estimates and lead freight calculation standardization.
Leverage data analytics to identify trends reduce costs and enhance service quality.
Collaborate with global teams on cross-regional projects and process harmonization.
Business scheme design and logistics design for new OEM deliveries.
Continue alignment with Plant for necessary adjustment (ship date & quantity with P/N) until delivery gets steady mode
Placing orders in SAP for a few Japan OEM/.
Review and improve current logistics and SCM operation related in Japan
When supply issues happen this position will be actively involved in coordination.
Demo vehicles/kits inbound/outbound handling
What You Need
Bachelors degree in Supply Chain Management Logistics Engineering or related SCM field.
5 years of experience in logistics preferably in Automotive or Manufacturing sectors.
Proven track record in managing 3PL/4PL providers and Japan-specific logistics challenges.
Strong analytical skills with proficiency in SAP Microsoft Office and logistics software.
Fluency in Japanese and business-level English.
Lean/Continuous Improvement mindset with project management expertise.
Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.
