The opportunity
We are currently seeking a Staff to join our Pension and Benefits Actuarial Services team in our People Advisory Services (PAS) - Reward practice. Our PAS Reward practice is a multi-disciplinary integrated team of actuaries lawyers HR and tax professionals providing specialized services in the areas of pensions benefits HR tax and compensation.
As a Staff you will join our Actuarial team and participate in client engagements and opportunities for pension and or benefits actuarial services. You will work on technical aspects of actuarial engagements while ensuring client needs are met. You will apply project management skills as well as technical and professional knowledge to ensure that the engagement work products are of the highest quality.
Your key responsibilities
- Advising EYs audit teams on actuarial and accounting matters related to complex pension arrangements and other post-employment benefits - OPEB
- Assisting the team in due diligence reviews in mergers and acquisitions transactions on defined benefit plans and broader people-related topics
- Participating in a broad range of consulting actuarial pension and benefit engagements including pension and benefit cost management governance policy risk and operational aspects
- Working with EY colleagues in Canada and across the globe to deliver One EY solutions
- Supporting actuarial engagements relating to actuarial audit support mergers and acquisitions pension valuation and other pension advisory services
- Supporting compensation engagements as needed including conducting research and analysis on compensation total rewards talent retention/attraction
- Participating in the overall and day-to-day technical and business aspects of client projects to ensure high quality engagement work products solutions and deliverables for clients
- Identifying developing and implementing initiatives to improve engagement productivity increase efficiencies mitigate risks and address issues for clients
- Contributing to the attainment of group and individual goals by sharing knowledge identifying business and or productivity opportunities and facilitating teamwork
Skills and attributes for success
- Up to 2 years of pension actuarial experience
- Actively pursuing ACIA / ASA
- Previous pension OPEB accounting and/or valuation experience preferred
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office particularly Excel
- Strong project management skills within a professional environment
- Excellent verbal and written communication abilities
Ideally youll also
- Work independently in a fast-paced dynamic and team-oriented environment
- Share knowledge and motivate colleagues as well as initiative to stay abreast of pension and benefit actuarial trends and developments
