Who we are
Our central role includes managing the provincial power grid in real-time overseeing and evolving Ontarios electricity market engaging with government municipalities and Indigenous communities and planning for Ontarios future electricity needs. Our employees play a key role in driving grid innovation protecting the system from threats advancing the provinces energy conservation programs and forecasting and procuring the electricity resources well need in the decades to come.
This role is a part of the Enabling Resources Program within Markets and Reliability.

The Enabling Resources Program (ERP or Program) is a set of projects that will enable key emerging resources specifically electricity storage (storage) hybrid generation-storage pairings (hybrids) and small individual or aggregations of dispatchable Distributed Energy Resources (DER) into the IESO-administered markets tools and processes. The aim of ERP is to allow these resources to more effectively provide required system services and contribute to the safe and reliable operation of the bulk power system in Ontario.
Reporting to one of the Supervisors in ERP the Program is looking for 2 advisors or senior advisors to lead and facilitate the Storage/Hybrid Phase 2 stream of work which includes enabling frequency regulation from storage resources changes to uplift treatment for storage and more. These roles will interact with the external sector software vendors and numerous IESO areas such as Enterprise Change IT M&R Settlements and MACD to name a few.
The successful candidate is expected to work with our energy management system software vendor and internal groups on technical details to enable storage resources to effectively provide regulation service to the grid. This will create long-term benefits for ratepayers by improving reliability and competition in ancillary services.
What youll do
In this role youll make a meaningful impact by contributing to the IESO team and supporting the electricity needs of the province through:
In a typical day you willsupport ERP market development by assisting with design initiatives for storage hybrid resources and DER integration including managing external consultants. It involves linking short-term analysis to long-term strategies preparing contingency plans and ensuring alignment with IESO business objectives. The position requires maintaining expertise in market theory and emerging technologies analyzing regulatory decisions and engaging with stakeholders through committees and forums. Additionally the Advisor prepares reports and recommendations contributes to rule and procedure development and provides guidance to internal teams and market participants.
