Position Overview

The O&M Field Service Manager serves as a senior technician and technical resource leading complex maintenance operations and providing mentorship across all solar and energy storage facility types. This advanced role requires expertise in troubleshooting project leadership and technical guidance for both field staff and other departments.

As a senior member of the O&M team the Field Service Manager will lead a team of technicians in maintaining an assigned regional portfolio of sites. They will be the first line of support for their team offering both remote and in person guidance as needed. This position reports to the Director of O&M

Key Responsibilities

  • Oversee a team of assigned technicians ensuring consistency and quality of work throughout the region meets Radiances QC standards
  • Serve as designated safety coordinator for all sites under your care by maintaining a team TRIR less than 1.0
  • Provide supervision and technical guidance to Level 1 and Level 2 technicians by guiding them as they progress through the companys prescribed training path
  • Perform workmanship audits and provide oversight of specialty contractors by inspecting work and raising concerns to appropriate asset coordinator
  • Assist asset coordinators in execution of special projects and coordinating complex O&M activities by acting as onsite management ensuring that projects are completed on time and meeting budget
  • Maintain qualifications and certifications necessary to maintain the sites in your region
  • Identify and specify components for system repairs based on appropriate applications and ratings ensuring minimal incorrect material purchases
  • Support updating and maintaining electrical schematics and documentation by capturing onsite documentation through your team as needed
  • Provide formal training and mentorship to junior technicians by identifying weaknesses in your team and developing these skills
  • Fulfill administrative functions onsite and ensure regulatory compliance
  • Utilize troubleshoot and reconfigure SCADA systems and data acquisition systems acting as the regional escalation point for communications issues
  • Assess and coordinate facility power shutdown procedures that meet required regulations and client requirements
  • Act as fill in technician where needed

Qualifications

  • Successfully completed Level 2 technician competency assessments
  • Advanced electrical theory knowledge and practical application experience
  • Specialized safety certifications (confined space high voltage etc.) as required for your sites
  • Demonstrated leadership and project management capabilities
  • Comprehensive understanding of NEC NFPA 70E NFPA 70B IEEE and other applicable codes
  • Experience with SCADA systems data acquisition systems and meteorological stations
  • Proven ability to conduct root cause analysis and develop complex corrective action plans
  • Strong technical writing and documentation skills
  • Minimum 5-7years of solar O&M experience
  • Master Electricians license or NABCEP PVIP or O&M certification preferred
  • Drone Pilots license and experience performing thermography flyovers preferred

Physical Requirements

  • Stand or walk for extended periods during facility inspections
  • Use arms and hands for complex electrical work and equipment manipulation
  • Lift and carry materials weighing up to 75 pounds
  • Climb ladders scaffolds and navigate elevated work platforms safely
  • Perform detailed visual inspections requiring excellent eyesight
  • Demonstrate exceptional eye-hand coordination for precision electrical work
  • Maintain excellent physical fitness for demanding work environments
  • Work confidently at heights with advanced fall protection systems
  • This position is 80% field work 20% administrative work
