Boeing Defense Space and Security (BDS) organization has an exciting opportunity for a Senior Program Management Specialist to join our Space Launch System (SLS) Program in Huntsville Alabama to support development production test and verification of the Exploration Upper Stage (EUS) and Core Stage Propulsion.

As a member of our Integrated Product Team (IPT) project management team you will join a diverse group of managers system architects engineers and technicians. You will be expected to be responsible for leading and managing complex engineering programs and projects ensuring alignment with strategic objectives and driving project execution to meet performance schedule and budget goals. An ideal candidate has a strong technical background in space and/or propulsion systems.

Position Responsibilities:

  • Lead and manage day-to-day propulsion activities across multiple sites and executing organizations.
  • Lead the planning and execution of complex propulsion programs ensuring adherence to project schedules and budgets with a strong understanding of integrated scheduling and Earned Value Management (EVM) principles.
  • Drive schedule burn-down and milestone adherence identifying and mitigating risks while capturing and executing opportunities.
  • Maintain clear and consistent communication flow between Boeing teams suppliers and customer stakeholders.
  • Champion first-time quality through disciplined processes lessons learned and proactive issue resolution.
  • Develop solutions to complex problems that require ingenuity and innovation.
  • Protect technical integrity and uphold program commitments across all propulsion development activities.
  • Track progress through propulsion burn-down charts risk registers and execution dashboards to provide clear visibility to leadership.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams including engineering manufacturing and supply chain to ensure successful program delivery.
  • Regularly communicate at all levels from engineering team to executive leadership
  • Lead others and directs phases of assigned cross-organizational or business unit projects demonstrating proficiency in all project management areas in accordance with accepted project management standards in the industry (e.g. PMI Project Management Body of Knowledge PMBOK ANSI and ISO standards).

This position is expected to be 100% onsite. The selected candidate will be required to work onsite at one of the listed location options.

The position must meet Export Control compliance requirements therefore a US Person as defined by 22 C.F.R. 120.15 is Person includes US Citizen lawful permanent resident refugee or asylee.

This position requires the ability to obtain access to a National Aeronautics and Space Administration (NASA) facility.

This is a NASA safety-sensitive position and is subject to random drug and alcohol testing.

Basic Qualifications (Required Skills/Experience):

  • Bachelors degree or higher
  • More than 5 years of experience in a leadership role (i.e. manager project manager team lead etc.)
  • More than 5 years of experience creating technical content and integrating that with non-technical (cost and schedule) content
  • More than 1 year of experience working directly with executives or senior leaders

Preferred Qualifications (Desired Skills/Experience):

  • Masters degree in a relevant business or technical field
  • More than 3 years of experience working with propulsion system components interfaces and their design/integration variables within aerospace vehicles

Relocation assistance is not a negotiable benefit for this position. Candidates must live in the immediate area or relocate at their own expense.

Travel: Some travel may be required for this position up to 25%
