Position Summary:
The Campus Director at Chicago IL for The Chicago School is responsible for ensuring operations run smoothly on campus supporting current and prospective students student engagement and experiences on campus as well as helping build a positive overall campus culture.
Reporting to the Executive Director of Facilities and Real Estate Planning at The Chicago School the Campus Director oversees day to day operations of their assigned campus(es).The Campus Director is responsible for collaborating with leaders across The Chicago School to achieve university outcomes and will maintain strong relationships with various departments including Admissions Student Support Business Operations and Facilities academic leaders and other administrators and operations teams.
This role will be based at the Chicago IL Campus of The Chicago School. The nature of this role requires full-time presence on campus and/or at events and activities in the local community. Some evenings and weekends are required. Additional occasional travel (5%-10%) may be and may fluctuate based on time of year.
Key Areas of Responsibility:
Emergency Preparedness:
Develop update and maintain the Chicago Campus Emergency Operations Plan ensuring alignment with institutional policies and local regulations. Coordinate regular reviews and readiness assessments.
Training and Safety Coordination:
Plan and facilitate required safety and emergency response trainings for faculty and staff including CPR First Aid AED certification and campus emergency procedures.
Access Control Oversight:
Provide comprehensive oversight of all campus access control systems including key management electronic entry and security protocols to ensure safety and compliance.
Operational Leadership:
Serve as the primary operational leader for the Chicago campus responsible for determining and communicating operating hours coordinating closures and managing emergency notifications.
Policy Implementation and Collaboration:
Collaborate with Campus Directors across all locations to develop refine and implement consistent policies and procedures. Ensure compliance and effective execution of these policies locally.
Budget and Financial Management:
Develop monitor and manage the Campus Operations department budget. Authorize expenditures and ensure fiscal responsibility in alignment with institutional goals.
Contract and Vendor Management:
Oversee all contracts related to the Chicago campus including those with external contractors service providers and vendors. Ensure agreements are current compliant and effectively managed to meet operational and financial objectives.
Staffing and Team Leadership:
Recruit train schedule and supervise Campus Operations staff. Conduct annual performance evaluations and foster a culture of professionalism accountability and service excellence.
Event and Visit Coordination:
Work collaboratively with university departments to coordinate site visits board meetings and campus events ensuring logistical efficiency and positive guest experiences.
Work Order and Maintenance Management:
Oversee the campus work order system to ensure timely resolution of maintenance and facilities requests. Manage day-to-day communication with property management building engineers and contracted service providers.
Building Services Oversight:
Serve as the primary point of contact for building engineering security and janitorial services ensuring seamless coordination of daily operations and service quality.
Regulatory Compliance:
Ensure all campus operations comply with applicable municipal state and federal laws as well as institutional standards and safety requirements.
Campus Maintenance:
Oversee all preventive maintenance programs and building systems to maintain operational readiness safety and longevity of campus facilities.
Space Planning and Utilization:
Provide leadership in campus space planning initiatives to optimize facility use and support institutional growth and strategic objectives.
Vendor and Contract Relationships:
Maintain strong vendor partnerships negotiate service contracts and ensure cost-effective high-quality service delivery.
Campus Representation:
Represent Campus Operations in institutional leadership meetings and cross-functional initiatives serving as a key liaison between facilities and academic or administrative units.
Crisis and Incident Response:
Serve as the primary point of escalation for operational incidents emergencies and student concerns affecting campus operations.
Communications and Coordination:
Partner with the Communications team to ensure accurate and consistent messaging for campus alerts closures and operational updates.
Clery and Safety Compliance:
Ensure adherence to Clery Act requirements and maintain documentation for audits or reporting.
