The Global Credit Risk department sets the credit risk strategy ensuring that INGs lending practices are in line with its risk tolerance and regulatory requirements and managing credit restructuring from a global and central point. Global Credit Risk plays a critical role via its credit risk policies credit risk appetite setting and credit risk portfolio management in protecting the bank from losses due to defaults or economic downturns.
The team
The Credit Risk Insight Appetite & Provisioning team includes two sub-teams and is composed of a total of 20 FTEs all based in the Netherlands. The Head of Credit Risk Insight Appetite & Provisioning works closely with stakeholders across Risk (e.g. Integrated Risk) Finance (e.g. Group Finance) and COO (e.g. COO Risk Data Management) domains. The role reports hierarchically to the Global Head of Credit Risk and is part of the Global Credit Risk Management team.
Role and responsibilities
At ING we are shaping the future of credit risk through robust governance strategic oversight and global consistency. As Head of Credit Risk Insight Appetite and Provisioning you will lead a high-performing team that drives INGs global credit risk reporting and analytics agenda. You will be responsible for defining INGs Credit Risk Appetite and Credit Concentration Risk levels while also spearheading the development of interactive dashboards that generate insight across our global credit risk portfolio. These tools will support the delivery of forecasts for Risk Costs and Risk Migration as well as internal insights in credit risk trends in INGs loan portfolio and external insights through for example peer benchmarking. These insights enable senior stakeholders to make informed and timely decisions. You will also be the delegated global process owner for Loan Loss Provisioning and the LLP related SOx controls.
This is a pivotal moment in shaping the future of credit risk management. A key foundation of this transformation is unlocking the full potential of data-driven decision-making. This includes enhancing data driven Risk Appetite Statement (RAS) metrics to operational levels and applying advanced credit risk analytics to enhance decision-making and embed risk management by design. Your leadership will contribute to a safer more compliant bank while enabling predictive intuitive and value-adding risk practices. The ability to justify decisions based on robust credit risk data will be a critical success factor in this role.
Specific Tasks and Responsibilities
As Head of Credit Risk Insight Appetite & Provisioning you will lead a global team and be accountable for the following:
Lead the strategic ownership and governance of INGs Credit Risk Appetite Framework ensuring alignment with the Group Risk Appetite cycle and embedding it across all business lines and geographies.
Define and maintain the global Credit Concentration Risk Framework overseeing both country and single-name exposures and ensuring compliance with supervisory expectations and internal risk appetite.
Act as a strategic advisor to senior management provide forward-looking insights on risk costs and risk migration coordinating with key stakeholders to deliver high-quality forecasts that support solvency planning and Dynamic Planning processes.
Own and lead credit risk reporting ensuring timely accurate and well-governed delivery of internal and regulatory reports and inputs - including the Credit Risk Update and the Risk Management section of the Annual Report - in full alignment with BCBS239 principles and INGs data governance and management standards.
Drive the development and deployment of intuitive dashboards and analytics reporting tools (e.g. Power BI) that deliver timely actionable insights into credit risk trends and portfolio dynamics. These solutions will enhance reporting efficiency support data-driven decision-making and enable proactive risk management.
Serve as the delegated Global Process Owner for Loan Loss Provision (LLP) with full accountability for the design governance and execution of the global LLP framework. Oversee global LLP reporting policies and instructions and provide functional oversight of local reporting units to ensure timely and consistent reporting.
Act as the Global Process Owner for LLP-related SOx controls. Ensure robust internal control over financial reporting by managing the global SOx process for LLP including control testing aggregation and reporting.
Represent the function in regulatory and audit engagements (e.g. ECB CAS external auditors) acting as issue owner for Credit RAS and credit risk reporting-related findings and ensuring timely and effective remediation of high-priority issues.
Contribute to the strategic direction of Global Credit Risk Management collaborating with stakeholders to shape INGs credit risk appetite and participating in key committees such as GFRC and CRC.
