Minimum Qualifications

Two years of the required experience for the following minimum qualifications must have been as a Wildlife Enforcement Senior Agent or higher rank in state service:

Four years of experience in wildlife conservation law enforcement.

NECESSARY SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS:
Possession of an active Peace Officer Standards and Training (POST) certification.

Possession of a current drivers license.

An applicant who has been convicted of a misdemeanor crime of domestic violence or a felony or who is under indictment on a felony charge will be disqualified by the hiring agency until relief from the disabilities imposed by state and federal laws is granted.

NOTE:
This job has special physical requirements in that the incumbent must lift heavy objects (50 lbs. or more) walk long distances work in harsh weather conditions fire handguns rifles and shotguns accurately and have the ability to operate vehicles boats and all-terrain vehicles while in the performance of duties.

Job Duties and Other Information

Job Duties:

  • Patrols public/private land and waters including federal waters using a variety of specialized equipment while enforcing laws rules and regulations to protect and preserve the fish and wildlife resources and the citizens of the state. Provides public safety services on the waterways of the state. May be assigned to work and coordinate investigations in an undercover or covert capacity and may be required to infiltrate illegal activities involving fish and wildlife or other operations under the jurisdiction of the Department of Wildlife and Fisheries.

  • Serves as the Training Coordinator and arranges the Basic Training Academy and annual in service training. Designs and prepares training and instructional materials teaching aids and devices for new hires and existing agents.

Location: The position will be domiciled inthe Enforcement Division in East Baton Rouge Parish at Waddill.
