Who are we looking for

We are looking for a engineering leader who will be responsible to define the strategy manage and operate the core Enterprise services for Oracle employees. You will lead a team covering a critical enterprise services with full responsibility for architecture design delivery and operations across the space.

Youve operated high-scale services and understand how to make them more resilient. You have experience working with services that require data to travel long distances but have to abide by compliance and regulations. You stay up at night thinking about how to protect the service from upstream dependencies. You have had direct involvement building a team including recruiting and hiring and have been responsible for design delivery and operations within a service area.

You are technically strong and get a lot done youve worked on services that are highly available scalable and redundant. You understand that simple systems are easier to operate and troubleshoot. You can balance speed and quality with iteration and incremental improvements. Youve made life easier for your developers and have motivated your teams to make both process and service improvements with your ability to automate and instrument properly to get the right data. You understand operational perfection and how to instill a culture of being proactive with your teammates.

The person in this role will get a lot done on a daily basis grow and develop the team and roadmap drive execution of features and projects and own feature design.

What are the biggest challenges for the team

The biggest challenges for the team are security scalability performance and availability. The growth of the business is driving us to improve the ability of our systems to scale out and handle traffic patterns that are several orders of magnitude greater than what we can support today.

We understand that software is living and needs investment. The challenge is making the right trade-offs communicating those decisions effectively and crisp execution.

We need a leader who can lead their team to build services that handle millions of requests per second. We seek managers who can determine how we can survive regional data center outages and protect our customers. We need managers who can enable their team to build services that enable us to offer even more options to customers and contribute to the overall growth of Oracle Cloud.

Qualifications

• BS or MS degree in Computer Science or relevant discipline
• 8 years people management and/or lead experience with at least 2 years leading an organization including other managers or leads
• Experienced leader and exemplary manager
• Successfully demonstrates full responsibility for architecture design delivery and operations for components across a given product or service
• Previous experience owning and improving quality of org-wide processes with responsibility including roadmap planning talent review and goal setting
• Ability to obtain results through the people you lead owning organizational structure headcount planning recruiting targets and performance management.
• Ability to attract high-value talent from outside the organization with additional success developing and retaining top talent
• Demonstrated ability to advocate for change

Preferred Qualifications

• Proven history of developing senior level ICs directors or senior managers and future leaders
• Visibility with senior executives and involvement in decisions that impact across multiple divisions or parts of the organization

Responsibilities

As a Senior Director of software engineering in Enterprise Engineering you will apply your extensive knowledge of software architecture to manage software development tasks associated with developing managing and operating enterprise applications and services including Email Calendar Zoom Telephony and Enterprise GenAI services according to current and future design specifications. You will build new capabilities and enhancements within an existing software architecture and envision improvements to the architecture.

You will direct and ensure the implementation of operational policies through subordinate managers Interact internally and externally with executive management involving negotiation of vendor contracts renewals and important matters to influence long-term strategy and policy. Functional expertise and broad company knowledge. Demonstrated leadership and people management skills. Strong communication skills analytical skills thorough understanding of product development.

US: Hiring Range in USD from: $141200 to $338500 per annum. May be eligible for bonus equity and compensation deferral.

Oracle maintains broad salary ranges for its roles in order to account for variations in knowledge skills experience market conditions and locations as well as reflect Oracles differing products industries and lines of business.
Candidates are typically placed into the range based on the preceding factors as well as internal peer equity.
