About the role:

The Anxiety Disorders Clinic (ADC) provides specialist psychiatric diagnostic assessment and Cognitive Behaviour Therapy (CBT) based treatment programs to ambulatory patients with chronic anxiety depressive and related disorders. This position will also act as a senior clinician providing leadership and point of escalation for management of patients.

As part of the Clinical Research Unit for Anxiety and Depression (CRUfAD) the ADC also supports the development and evaluation of clinically effective and cost-efficient treatment methods publishing and promoting research activities with the aim of broadening the knowledge base within the field. These additional functions are carried out in collaboration with other CRUfAD-related entities:

  • This Way Up which provides digital content and internet-delivered CBT (iCBT) courses
  • The Virtual Clinic which conducts and publishes research on CBT and iCBT treatment

This position will also act as a senior clinician providing leadership across CRUfAD-related entities the Anxiety Disorders Clinic This Way Up and The Virtual Clinic.

Selection Criteria:

  • Personal integrity and demonstrated commitment to the Philosophy Mission and Values of Mary Aikenhead Ministries and St Vincents Health Australia.
  • Possess or be eligible to possess specialist registration with the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (AHPRA) Fellowship of the Royal Australian and New Zealnad College of Psychiatrists (FRANZCP) and a Medicare provider number.
  • Demonstrated knowledge skills and high standards of clinical practice in the areas of anxiety disorders depressive disorders and cognitive behavioural therapy commensurate to experience which is appropriate to the requirements of the position. Experience and expertise in digital mental health is strongly preferred.
  • Demonstrated expertise and commitment to person-centred recovery-oriented family/carer-inclusive and trauma-informed principles of care.
  • Demonstrated ability to lead and work in collaborative interprofessional context that include lived-experience professions to support the delivery of an effective high quality mental health service.
  • Demonstrated commitment to teaching and supervision of specialist trainees junior medical officers and medical students and non-medical colleagues.
  • Demonstrated leadership skills that support and foster a culture of safety and learning with proven ability to improve the quality of services and patient care outcomes.
  • Demonstrated ongoing contribution to the development dissemination and translation of new knowledge and practices commensurate with work in an academic teaching hospital environment.
