Job Description

This position exists to provide peer support services within the Center for Rural Behavioral Health utilizing lived experience to foster resilience enhance self-determination and strengthen community connections while supporting individuals in their recovery journey.

Minimum Qualifications

  • State Certification as a Peer Recovery Specialist (or ability to obtain within specified timeframe)
  • Lived experience with mental health recovery
  • Lived experience with substance use recovery
  • Demonstrated commitment to culturally relevant and inclusive practices
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills

Preferred Qualification

  • Demonstrated commitment to fostering a diverse working and learning environment
  • Experience in program development
  • Experience working in rural communities
  • Experience with electronic health records
  • Knowledge of local community resources
  • Bilingual skills

Other Requirements

Work safely at all times which includes but is not limited to participating and completing all required safety trainings as well as performing all job tasks in accordance with Minnesota State University Mankato policies and procedures utilizing appropriate tools equipment and personal protective equipment.

This position requires a valid applicable drivers license as well as a DVS records check with an acceptable rating. Employees must have an active valid and applicable drivers license if they drive a vehicle on state business.
