Job Summary

This is semi-skilled parks maintenance work that may provide basic work direction to subordinates engaged in a variety of diverse parks activities. The incumbent(s) exercise some independence of action and judgement in day-to-day functions and refers unusual problems or policy matters to their supervisor. The work of this class is distinguished from that of a Parks Maintenance Worker I by the operation of road rated turf equipment including gang mowers tractors and associated attachments used in the maintenance of parks and sport facilities. This position operates under the direction of a supervisor who checks work upon completion for quality and adherence to established work standards. Instruction is given through oral and written means.

The Training Manual Requirements pre-qualifications for this position are:

One (1) years experience within the past five years in general parks operations and maintenance tasks;

Successful completion of a certificate program at a recognized educational institute in horticulture or parks related program
Previous experience in operating equipment

The Class Specification requires a Valid Class 5 Drivers license for the Province of British Columbia and is a job requirement.
