POSITION OVERVIEW: The Packaging Machinery Engineer reporting to the Engineering Manager is responsible for the design development installation optimization and maintenance of automated packaging systems used in manufacturing operations. This role ensures packaging equipment operates efficiently safely and cost-effectively to meet production and quality goals. The engineer will collaborate with cross-functional teams production maintenance quality and suppliersto deliver innovative packaging solutions and continuous improvements. KEY RESPONSIBILITIES: Installation & Commissioning - Manage installation setup and validation of packaging lines and automation equipment
- Coordinate with vendors contractors and internal teams to ensure on-time delivery and performance
- Develop and execute FAT (Factory Acceptance Test) and SAT (Site Acceptance Test) protocols
Optimization & Troubleshooting - Analyze machine performance data to identify bottlenecks and areas for improvement
- Implement process improvements to increase uptime reduce waste and enhance efficiency
- Troubleshoot mechanical electrical and control system issues
Maintenance & Reliability - Support preventive and predictive maintenance programs for packaging equipment
- Develop maintenance documentation SOPs and training materials for technicians and operators
- Specify spare parts and manage supplier relationships for critical components
Compliance & Safety - Ensure all equipment and processes comply with OSHA FDA GMP and other applicable regulations
- Participate in safety audits and risk assessments
Project Management - Manage capital projects from concept to completion including budgeting and scheduling.
- Prepare technical documentation equipment specifications and project reports.
QUALIFICATIONS: - Bachelors degree in mechanical engineering Mechatronics or related field
- Certified Packaging Professional (CPP) or equivalent preferred
- Six Sigma Green Belt or similar process improvement certification preferred
- At least 4-7 years of experience in packaging machinery design maintenance or process engineering (food beverage pharmaceutical or consumer goods industry preferred)
- Strong knowledge of packaging automation PLCs sensors pneumatics and motion control systems
- Proficiency with CAD and 3D modeling software
- Familiarity with Lean Manufacturing Six Sigma and TPM principles is a plus
- Strong communication and collaboration skills
- Attention to detail and commitment to safety and quality
TRAVEL:Travel to equipment vendors or other sites as required (up to 15%) WORKING ENVIRONMENT: Regular work in a manufacturing setting including exposure to noise temperature variations and food processing environments. COMPENSATION: - Base Salary: $115000 - $125000 per year
