Job Title: Title Clerk
Position Overview
The Title Clerk is responsible for accurately processing and managing vehicle titles and related documentation. This role ensures compliance with state and federal regulations maintains precise records and provides exceptional support to customers lenders and internal departments. The ideal candidate is detail-oriented organized and able to thrive in a fast-paced automotive or dealership environment.
Key Responsibilities
Process new and used vehicle titles registrations and related paperwork in compliance with state and local laws.
Verify accuracy of sales contracts tax information lien details and supporting documents.
Submit documentation to DMVs tag agencies lien holders and financial institutions as required.
Maintain detailed records of all title transactions and ensure timely follow-up on pending items.
Resolve issues related to incorrect titles lost titles or title reassignments.
Communicate with customers banks and internal teams to address title questions or concerns.
Prepare and distribute title reports to management.
Reconcile and file title paperwork daily to ensure accurate audits.
Stay updated on changes in state title regulations and dealership compliance requirements.
Qualifications
High school diploma or equivalent; associate degree preferred.
Previous experience as a Title Clerk DMV Clerk or administrative role in an automotive dealership preferred.
Strong knowledge of title processing DMV procedures and lien holder requirements.
Excellent attention to detail and accuracy.
Strong organizational and time-management skills.
Proficiency with dealership management systems (e.g. CDK Reynolds & Reynolds) is a plus.
Effective written and verbal communication skills.
Ability to maintain confidentiality and manage sensitive information.
