The Global Credit Risk department sets the credit risk strategy ensuring that INGs lending practices are in line with its risk tolerance and regulatory requirements and managing credit restructuring from a global and central point. Global Credit Risk plays a critical role via its credit risk policies credit risk appetite setting and credit risk portfolio management in protecting the bank from losses due to defaults or economic downturns.
The team
The Credit Risk Frameworks & Control team is composed of three sub-teams (Policies & Frameworks Processes & Control Quality Assurance) and 34 FTEs. The Head of Credit Risk Frameworks & Control is based in the Netherlands and works closely with stakeholders across Retail and Wholesale Banking Risk Finance and COO domains. The role reports hierarchically to the Global Head of Credit Risk and is part of the Global Credit Risk Management team.
Role and responsibilities
At ING we are shaping the future of credit risk through robust governance strategic oversight and global consistency. As Head of Credit Risk Frameworks & Control you play a pivotal role in shaping INGs global credit risk landscape. You will lead a team of experts responsible for designing and maintaining INGs global credit risk policy house embedding processes and controls and driving credit risk quality assurance.
This role sits at the heart of Global Credit Risk Management and requires a strong command of credit risk regulatory knowledge risk governance and stakeholder alignment. You will act as a strategic enablerensuring that INGs credit risk policies & frameworks are not only compliant and effective but also scalable and future-fit. Your leadership will foster cross-functional collaboration across all three lines of defence helping ING stay resilient compliant and ahead of the curve.
Specific Tasks and Responsibilities
As Head of Credit Risk Frameworks & Control you will lead three sub-teams and be accountable for the following:
Building and leading a high-performing Credit Risk Frameworks & Control team fostering collaboration and alignment with INGs global credit risk strategy.
Owning and maintaining the Global Credit Risk Framework and Policy House ensuring policies are clear up-to-date and compliant with internal control principles and regulatory expectations.
Designing and implementing second-line credit risk processes and controls translating policy objectives into actionable control inventories and ensuring global consistency in execution.
Driving independent quality assurance reviews across front office risk management and credit restructuring identifying control weaknesses and recommending improvements to enhance policy effectiveness.
Monitoring and challenging credit risk control performance through dashboards and deep-dive testing ensuring timely remediation of issues and continuous improvement in risk governance.
Acting as the primary point of contact for regulatory and audit engagements managing ECB DNB CAS and external auditor interactions with authority transparency and strategic foresight.
Contributing to the strategic direction of Global Credit Risk Management collaborating with peers to shape INGs credit risk appetite and participating in key committees such as GFRC and CRC.
Developing and retaining top talent within the team by providing coaching feedback and growth opportunities while promoting a culture of excellence integrity and shared purpose.
