Job Description

We are looking for a Manufacturing Scientist work in a team of scientists on the laboratory investigation of Material Qualification Projects Quality Notifications and Incidents/CAPAs in the support of existing culture media products and Manufacturing Processes.

The role supports the culture media and associated products range and the respective manufacturing processes. This includes dehydrated Culture Media (DCM) Agreement Materials Freeze Dried Supplements (FDS) and Liquid Fill products manufactured in Basingstoke and prepared media manufactured in Perth and Wesel.

Location: on site UK - Basingstoke - Wade Road

Fixed Term contract: 12 month

Your Responsibilities:

  • Laboratory investigation of technical projects e.g raw material qualification Incidents/CAPAs/QNs
  • Execution of small projects in accordance with agreed schedules.
  • Collaboration with cross departmental colleagues to drive effective resolutions to technical issues.
  • Report writing and presentation of results.
  • Plans their own work within the boundaries of a project with the assistance of Senior Scientists and Supervisor.
  • Work on several projects simultaneously and balance changing needs
  • Encouraged to recommend appropriate actions relating to project issues
  • Problem solving fixing routine methods interpreting unexpected results encouraged to highlight solutions to problems. Some expectation for problem solving outside their own team
  • Influence customers (internal and external) with data to prove valid theories
  • Role is mostly practical
  • Encouraged to perform both bench work and project management tasks

Your Qualifications:

  • Degree or equivalent in a microbiological (or related) subject
  • Industrial experience in the same fields will be considered
  • Some experience in a microbiology laboratory and as an end user of Oxoid products would be of benefit
  • Handle class 2 (and 3 depending on vaccination status) microorganisms and hazardous chemicals in a safe manner
  • Good organisational and communication skills
  • Ability to work alone with minimal mentorship.
