Job Summary
Job Title: Independent Living Specialist Aberdeen
Independent Living Choices is seeking a full-time Independent Living Specialist for our Aberdeen Office. Applicants will be considered anywhere between Pierre and Aberdeen. An agency vehicle is provided for travel.
Job Description: Independent Living Specialists work alongside people with disabilities to help them identify and access needed services.
About Independent Living Choices: Independent Living Choices is a 501c3 Nonprofit that provides services to people with disabilities who make independence their choice. One of only 2 Centers for Independent Living in the state of South Dakota we provide services to 50 counties and all 9 Tribal Nations.
What its Like to Work Here: Many of our employees have been with Independent Living Choices for a number of years. Starting wage is between $17 -$19 per hour DOQ. Health vision dental 401k 160 hours of Paid Time Off annually and additional benefits are available after the introductory period. You will also receive at least 9 paid holidays off per year. Agency vehicles are also provided for work-related travel.
A Day in the Life of an Independent Living Specialist: No two days as an Independent Living Specialist are the same. As an Independent Living Specialist youll spend time in the office local communities and in the homes of people with disabilities. You will provide direct services to participants help them identify and access resources and services make referrals participate in outreach activities facilitate peer support groups transition classes and more!
Qualifications to be an Independent Living Specialist: The right candidate will be self-motivated and passionate about helping others. Qualified candidates would excel in problem solving verbal communication written communication and organizational skills. A bachelors degree in human services social work related field or an equivalent combination of education and experience is preferred but not required. Applicants must possess a valid South Dakota drivers license.
