The Work:
TheAssociateManager AMLQuality Assurance (QA)plays a leadership role in the Compliance department while also contributing specific subject matterexpertiseon Anti-Money LaunderingAnti-Terrorist Financingand Sanctions Evasion(AML/ATF/SE) related matters. This position primarilyassiststheAssociateDirectorAMLGovernanceand the CAMLOin the on-going management and the oversight of Equitable Banks enterprise-wide AML/ATF/SEprogram.
The Associate ManagerAML Quality Assurancesrole is a multi-faceted one as responsibilities may includeoversight of AML/ATF/SEmonitoring and testing (M&T) routines the oversight of Quality Assurance (QA) reviewsidentifyingAML/ATF/SEissues to be raisedand documented under the Banks Issues Management Programand providing guidance to the AML team and Business Units. The environment is fast-paced and requires effective time management of multiple tasks and projects.

The Core Responsibilities of the Job:

    • Developimplementandmaintainquality assurance processes to ensure AML policies and procedures aredesigned andoperatingeffectively.
    • Identifypotential AML/ATF/SErisks and conductreviewsto ensure compliance with regulatory requirements.
    • Reviewand test AML/ATF/SEprocesses including customer due diligence transaction monitoring suspicioustransactionreportingetc.
    • Offer training and guidance to AML staff on quality assurance risk management and regulatory compliance.
    • Consistently provideprofessional written reporting on a regular basis on quality of testing and monitoring routines emerging trends and progress of compliance efforts.
    • Activelyidentifyand providesound recommendation(s) to theAssociate Directoron areas of improvement to close gaps.
    • Collaborate with stakeholderssuch asAML teams compliance departments and other stakeholders to ensure AML quality assurance standards are met.
    • Stayup-to-datewith regulatory requirementsby monitoringand interpretingAML regulations guidelines and industry best practices.
    • Continuously assess and improve AML quality assurance processes to ensure theyremaineffective and efficient.
    • Actively support theAssociate Director AML Governance with the development and maintenance of enterprise-wide AML/ATF/SE-related documents.
    • Consistentlyensurethe worksubmittedto theAssociate Director AML Governanceand other stakeholders are of the highestquality andproviding oversight to ensure the same for AML team members.
    • Leads a team ofAMLOfficers andestablishesa two-way working relationship with direct report(s) tosolicittheir views on the working environment potential changes affecting their work and continuous improvement opportunities.
    • Builds and sustains a team thatis capable of monitoring and testingML/TF risks across the Bank delivering andmaintainingthe performance required for the department including coaching and the creation and implementation of training and developmentplans.
    • Promotes a positive work environment that fosters collaboration innovation and synergies.
    • Empowers staff with resources and tools to be successful in the role.
    • Monitors regulatory and internal changes to recommend updates in monitoring and testing activities.

Lets Talk About You!

    • A university degree preferably in BusinessLawor Accounting
    • 5 years proven Canadian experience gained through work experience in the financial services industry including experience in AML/ATF/SEsystems and controls
    • CAMS certified or to be certified within 12 months of start date
    • Managerial experience for a minimum of2years
    • Demonstrated leadership skills with the ability to set strong examples for staff
    • Direct exposure in managing AML/ATFsanctionsregulatory compliance risk managementdisciplinesand best practices
    • Subject matterexpertiseofAML/ATF/SElegislation relatedregulationsand guidelines.
    • Lendingor retail bankingexperience considered an asset
    • Excellent analytical risk assessmentand research skills
    • Ability to successfully handle multiple competing priorities
    • Strong time management skills
    • Excellent written and verbal communication skills including strong public speaking and presentation skills as well as the ability to develop andmaintainstrong relationships with internal and external contacts
    • Proficientknowledge of Microsoft Office (WordExceland PowerPoint) and internet/web navigation
    • Knowledge of French an asset

The incumbent will be working hybrid and in office time will be spent working from Equitable Banks additional office space located at 2200-25 Ontario Street Toronto ON.
