About the role:
As a Product Development Engineer within the Quality Department you will play a key role in ensuring that our beds maintain Hästens renowned standards of craftsmanship and performance. At Hästens we improve the life of our customers by giving them the best possible sleep through our this role you will combine engineering expertise with a passion for quality transforming horsehair cotton wool wood and other natural materials into products that embody extraordinary comfort and timeless excellence.
Responsibilities:
- Participate in and contribute to product development projects with a focus on bed products.
- Act as a component expert within the bed category maintaining deep knowledge of all relevant components and materials.
- Support material selection and development with a focus on durability and natural materials.
- Develop and review CAD models technical drawings and production documentation.
- Coordinate and lead prototype builds ensuring efficient execution and accurate documentation.
- Plan and execute design validation and performance testing to verify functionality and quality.
- Contribute to supplier quality assurance through material evaluations audits and consistency checks.
- Lead or support root cause analysis and corrective actions for product or material deviations.
- Work closely with suppliers as a technical requirement setter and development partner.
- Ensure manufacturability and cost efficiency in collaboration with production and sourcing teams.
- Prepare detailed production documentation including Bills of Materials (BOMs) and assembly instructions. together with our Product Engineering & Compliance team.
- Collaborate with other internal teams to ensure design integrity and craftsmanship.
- Support and participate in continuous improvement initiatives including Change Board activities.
- Travel to suppliers and production sites to strengthen relationships and maintain our high standards.
Skills and requirements:
- Bachelors degree in Mechanical Engineering Product Development or related field.
- Solid experience in Product Development ideally within the furniture industry.
- Proficiency in CAD software (e.g. SolidWorks CATIA or similar).
- Good understanding of wood and textile materials.
- Hands-on experience with prototype building and workshop tools.
- Strong communication and collaboration skills.
- Willingness to travel and work closely with international suppliers.
