Job Summary
A thriving and academically ambitious Secondary School in Manchester is seeking a dedicated and knowledgeable Science Technician to join their Science Faculty from January. This large oversubscribed school has a reputation for exceptional pastoral care and a science department known for innovative teaching hands-on practical work and excellent examination outcomes. They are now looking for a technician who can ensure the smooth running of all practical science lessons across Biology Chemistry and Physics.
The post-holder will be responsible for organising preparing and maintaining apparatus chemicals and laboratory equipment for lessons across KS3KS5. This includes preparing solutions setting up demonstrations managing risk assessments maintaining safety standards replenishing science resources and ensuring laboratories are kept in impeccable order. The role will require meticulous organisation strong communication skills and the ability to work closely with a team of teachers and fellow technicians.
This role is ideal for someone with laboratory experience a science background or previous school-based technician work who is looking for a stable long-term post within a supportive team. The school is committed to professional development offering full training on specialist equipment CPD programmes and ongoing support from an experienced Senior Science Technician.
Key Requirements:
Strong science knowledge ideally with experience preparing Chemistry Biology and Physics experiments.
Ability to manage stock levels safety procedures and laboratory maintenance.
Competent understanding of CLEAPSS guidance and Health & Safety protocols.
Excellent organisational skills and a proactive resilient working approach.
Full-time permanent or long-term January start. Excellent facilities and strong technician support structure.
