About the Role

POWER Engineers is seeking experienced Protection & Control Field Technicians / Field Engineers to perform extensive field testing and commissioning of high-voltage substations (15 kV 500 kV) across the Pacific Northwest. This role is ideal for professionals who thrive in hands-on environments enjoy solving complex technical challenges and are comfortable with continuous travel.

Key Responsibilities
  • Test and commission Protection & Control systems for medium and high-voltage substations.

  • Perform hands-on relay testing (SEL GE) using Omicron or Doble test sets.

  • Utilize software tools such as ENOSERV RTS Test Universe AcSELerator.

  • Read analyze and interpret electrical drawings and schematics.

  • Support project leads and adhere to strict safety QA/QC and documentation procedures.

  • Complete reports timecards and expense documentation accurately and on time.

Required Qualifications
  • 5 10 years of hands-on testing experience for medium/high-voltage systems.

  • Strong working knowledge of relays: SEL Basler Beckwith GE.

  • Proficiency with Omicron/Doble equipment and associated software tools.

  • Familiarity with NETA IEEE and NFPA standards.

  • Ability to lift 50 lbs and work extended hours in the field.

  • Must pass drug background and MVR screenings.

  • Valid drivers license with an insurable record.

  • Visa candidates are not considered.

  • Security clearance not required.

Nice to Have
  • Associates or Bachelors degree in Electrical Engineering or a related field.

  • Experience with electromechanical relays CTs CCVTs PLCs and DC systems.

  • Knowledge of IEC 61850 protocol testing.
