Duration: One Academic Semester (Fall or Spring)
Classification: Unpaid Internship/Field Placement
Position Summary: RSU 9 is seeking enthusiastic and growth-oriented Student Teachers to join our dynamic team for a full academic semester. This internship provides an invaluable opportunity for aspiring educators to fulfill their field placement requirements gain extensive classroom experience and transition into their professional roles. Student Teachers are highly valued team members who will serve as role models learn from experienced mentors and actively lead instruction with our diverse student population. Candidates must possess a strong growth mindset and a commitment to professionalism in all interactions.
Ideal Candidate: We encourage college students currently enrolled in the final year of an accredited Bachelors degree program in Education or a related discipline to apply.
Currently enrolled in an accredited college or university Bachelors program in Education or a related discipline applicable to the assignment (e.g. specific content area).
Must be eligible to begin a full-semester student teaching placement within the next 12-month period as confirmed by the college/university program.

Maine DOE Background Check - CHRC Instructions:
Create a MEIS account: Follow instructions at and schedule a fingerprinting appointment at (Associated fee: approximately $55).
Submit a new application for the CHRC (Associated fee: approximately $15).
To check the status of your CHRC application visit direct all fingerprinting and CHRC status questions to the Maine DOE Certification Office at .
Placements Align with the RSU 9 Accademic Calendar:
Fall Semester: Approximately August December
Spring Semester: Approximately January May
Reports To: Assigned Mentor Teacher / Building Principal
Travel Requirements: Student Teachers should be prepared for potential travel between RSU 9 schools or district buildings as needed.
Terms of Employement: This is an unpaid full-semester internship designed for field experience credit required by an accredited educational program. RSU 9 does not offer compensation for this role.
