The role
Are you the junior Procurement professional looking for the next challenge Then this (junior) Tactical Project Buyer position at Damen Naval might be just the right opportunity for you. As the (junior) Tactical Project Buyer within our experienced Procurement team you will be responsible for contracting the necessary products materials and services crucial for our shipbuilding projects. You will also perform contract management activities and develop and strengthen relationships with existing suppliers initiate market research to monitor and report on cost trends your domain. You will also work closely with a team of expert colleagues helping you to grow and to playing a vital role in ensuring project success through effective procurement. The official job title for this position is Purchaser a role where you will have the opportunity to develop your skills and gain valuable experience in the coming years.

Key accountabilities
In this role your responsibilities will include:

  • Managing and coordinating the entire procurement process according to established procedures and project boundaries.

  • Initiating market research and fostering supplier development to secure and maintain a reliable supplier base.

  • Researching qualifying and evaluating suppliers and subcontractors.

  • Contribute to improvement processes with suppliers driven by supplier qualification and evaluation.

  • Consolidating and providing reliable data for budgeting and cost price calculations.

  • Contribute to the development and implementation of improvements of for standardized processes and framework agreements and meticulously monitoring and maintaining them.


Skills & experience
We are looking for candidates with the following qualifications:

  • 2 years of procurement experience preferably in a technical environment.

  • Bachelors degree in a technical (business administration) field.

  • Nevi-1 and Nevi-2 certifications or a willingness to obtain them.

  • Negotiation skills combined with assertiveness and a self-driven well-organized approach.

  • Good command of Dutch and English both written and spoken.

  • Excellent references as a security screening is part of the hiring process.

  • Permanent EU citizenship and passport are both required. Candidates with EU (work) visa or with both an EU and non-EU nationality and/or passport are not eligible in accordance with the requirements imposed by the military nature of our projects.
