Franklin Universitys School of Nursing seeks applications for part-time adjunct instructors to educate future PMHNPs. Initial openings are anticipated for February 2026 with applicants added to a pool for consideration as positions become available. The role involves teaching specific coursework within the online Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner program either in theory or clinical courses.
Duties and Responsibilities:
Reporting to the Lead Faculty the adjunct instructor will:
- Review courses two (2) weeks prior to the course start date to ensure due dates and course material are correct. Post welcome/introduction video 10 days prior to course start date.
- Post weekly announcements as provided by the Lead Faculty. Provide clearly expectations regarding weekly assignments.
- Theory Courses: Deliver asynchronous and synchronous instruction including live remote sessions three (3) times per term and participation in discussion boards.
- Clinical Courses: Grade EXXAT weekly and meet with students and preceptors 2-3 times per term.
- Manage all assigned courses promptly with a continual student-centered presence including answering all communication within 24 hours on weekdays and 48 hours on weekends and completing grading within five (5) days of the due date.
- Provide ample feedback for students including constructive formative directive and how/why questioning to deepen students critical thinking.
- Provide additional resources to students as you feel is needed to support the information being learned.
- Offer course review and feedback to Lead Faculty each term and as needed.
- Collaborate with internal and external partners such as libraries and writing services.
- Participate in department and program meetings.
- Maintains attendance records determines and submits grades with established timeframes established by the University
- Creates a welcoming inclusive and productive learning environment
- Supports the timely resolution of student issues related to course instruction
- Participates in personal professional development
- Performs other duties as assigned by the Lead Faculty
Minimum Requirements/Qualifications:
- Minimum of an earned Masters degree in Nursing from a regionally accredited college or university
- A Doctoral degree may be required to teach theory courses
- 1 year of experience as a PMHNP
- Current unencumbered RN and APRN nursing license
- Current PMHNP certification
- Commitment to collaborative and collegiate relationships
- Maintain confidential and sensitive information
- Knowledge of higher education regulations compliance and accrediting agencies
- Strong organizational and interpersonal skills
- Ability to communicate in a professional manner and work effectively with faculty staff students and members of the professional community
- Excellent multi-tasking skills
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment
Preferred Skills and Characteristics:
- Doctoral degree in Nursing or related field
- Experience with asynchronous teaching in nursing at the graduate level
- Canvas and EXXAT proficiency
