About the Role
The Senior Communications Officer provides strategic communications advice and delivers integrated campaigns across digital and traditional channels to support NSW DPIRD Biosecurity activities and projects. You will:

  • Design and implement communication strategies that raise awareness and drive engagement on biosecurity issues.
  • Create and manage content for print digital web and social media platforms.
  • Coordinate stakeholder engagement activities including forums briefings and events.
  • Work closely with technical experts to ensure messaging is accurate timely and aligned with departmental priorities.
  • Use analytics and feedback to measure impact and continuously improve communication strategies.

This role also supports key biosecurity priority projects such as the Biosecurity Action Plan Cattle Tick and emergency preparedness communications for threats like H5 bird flu.

About You

You are a skilled communicator who thrives in a fast-paced environment and can translate complex information into clear engaging messages. You bring:

  • Tertiary qualifications in communications public relations or equivalent experience.
  • Strong experience in developing and delivering multi-channel communication strategies.
  • Excellent writing editing and content creation skills across digital and traditional platforms.
  • Ability to manage competing priorities and respond quickly to emerging issues.
  • Collaborative approach and stakeholder engagement expertise
