**Purpose Statement**
The Maintenance Mechanic ensures that all equipment in the plant runs smoothly by performing repairs and regular maintenance on various types of machinery.
**Key Responsibilities and Outcomes**
- Identifies and resolves any maintenance issues that arise.
- Uses equipment schematics and manuals to tune machines for optimal performance applying basic electrical and mechanical principles to fix problems.
- Applies general knowledge of plumbing metalworking and building maintenance when needed.
- Works with various measuring instruments and devices to monitor equipment performance.
- Provides training to new team members on necessary maintenance skills.
- Keeps the work area clean and organized following safety and quality guidelines.
- Operates the control system for monitoring equipment and completes necessary paperwork.
- Performs other related tasks as assigned by the Team Leader.
- Assists and trains team members on basic troubleshooting techniques and supports production activities as necessary.
**Knowledge Skills and Experience**
- Must have 3-5 years of experience in food processing particularly in troubleshooting and repairing production equipment with advanced control systems.
- Good communication skills are essential both in writing and speaking.
- Ability to train other team members in maintenance tasks.
- Willingness to work collaboratively as part of a team.
- Familiarity with control systems for monitoring equipment.
- Basic understanding of mechanical and electrical systems.
- Knowledge of plumbing metalworking and general maintenance for facilities.
- Awareness of and compliance with safety guidelines.
- Understanding of quality and food safety practices.
- Knowledge of proper operating and adjustment procedures for machinery.
