Job Summary

EduTalent Group are delighted to be recruiting on behalf of a secondary school in Kent for a reliable and proactive Cover Supervisor to support teaching and learning across the school.

As the Cover Supervisor you will be responsible for supervising whole classes during short-term teacher absences ensuring students remain engaged and focused. When not covering lessons you will use your initiative to support a range of activities including enrichment sessions registration PHSE school trips and exam invigilation.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Supervise classes during short-term teacher absence following lesson plans provided by teachers.

  • Manage student behaviour and engagement in line with school rules.

  • Support pupils learning by guiding them through tasks and providing assistance as needed.

  • Deliver registration and provide notices or information to students attending assemblies when required.

  • Assist with PHSE delivery enrichment activities and school day trips.

  • Support internal and external exam invigilation and administration as required.

  • Use school technology to enhance lessons and learning experiences.

  • Provide feedback on pupil behaviour engagement and lesson delivery to the Cover Department.

  • Undertake administrative tasks and participate in INSET and professional development activities.

  • Contribute to safeguarding and promotion of student welfare in line with school policies.

Requirements

Essential:

  • Experience working with children of relevant ages.

  • Knowledge of relevant policies codes of practice and legislation.

  • Ability to manage classroom behaviour and create a purposeful learning environment.

  • NVQ Level 3 or equivalent qualification/experience.

  • Good numeracy and literacy skills.

  • Ability to use initiative work independently and adapt to changing circumstances.

  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills with students and staff.

  • Commitment to safeguarding and promoting student welfare.

Desirable:

  • Previous experience as a cover supervisor or teaching assistant.

  • Experience supporting pupils with additional needs.

  • Competence in using ICT to support teaching and administration.

  • Flexibility to assist in trips enrichment or PHSE activities.
