About the Opportunity
Position Overview
The Defense Industrial Base Institute is looking for a Project Coordinator Research Operations to support the coordination and execution of research projects ensuring smooth operational workflows data integrity and effective collaboration across research students and staff. The position will report to the Associate Director for Research and work closely with the Sr. Research Program Coordinator to ensure support across Rapid Solution Teams engagement across internal and external academic institutional stakeholders speaker series and ongoing special projects that arise in support of federally funded research projects.
The ideal candidate will be experienced with problem solving and developing practical operational solutions as well as adapting to changing priorities. They will be a strong team player with the ability to work independently as needed. The Project Coordinator will be a quick learner of new software and operational systems that enhance the support of research program and projects.
Key Responsibilities
Research Coordination & Support (30%)
Working alongside the Sr. Research Program Coordinator and Program Manager assist in the planning scheduling and tracking of research projects from initiation through completion
Help to coordinate meetings series and research activities across Sr. Research Leadership (Sr. Director for Research and Associate Director for Research) that support delivery of funded work.
Maintain project documentation timelines and status reports
Support the development and implementation of standard operating procedures for research workflows
Research Data Management & Quality Assurance (30%)
Oversee Stakeholder data collection processes and ensure adherence to established protocols
Perform quality checks on stakeholder and research data and documentation to maintain accuracy and completeness (Smartsheet and One Drive)
Assist Sr. Research Program Coordinator with database management including data entry organization and maintenance (One drive and Smartsheet)
Support research background and general analysis
Research Operational Excellence (40%)
Assist with onboarding new research team members and training on operational systems
Maintain compliance with institutional policies ethical guidelines and regulatory requirements
Serve as a point of contact for operational inquiries from research teams
Support Research leadership to prepare reports presentations and documentation for internal and external stakeholders
Facilitate communication between DIBI research staff and external stakeholders
Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives for research operations
Required Qualifications
Bachelors degree in life sciences social sciences business administration or related field
Min 2 years of experience in research support operations project coordination or related role
Strong organizational skills with exceptional attention to detail
Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel Word PowerPoint Outlook)
Excellent written and verbal communication skills
Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment
Familiarity with research methodologies and academic research environments
Knowledge of data management systems and databases (smartsheet and salesforce a plus)
Understanding of research ethics and regulatory compliance (Export control IRB CUI).

This is a fixed term appointment with the possibility of renewal based off of continuing external funding

$52820.00 - $74607.50With the pay range(s) shown above the starting salary will depend on several factors which may include your education experience location knowledge and expertise and skills as well as a pay comparison to similarly-situated employees already in the role. Salary ranges are reviewed regularly and are subject to change.
