Job Summary

Student must be currently enrolled in College University or Tech School and at least have completed at least 60 credit hours. If applicant is enrolled in a Tech School (2-year program) the credit minimum is 30 credit hours. Applicants that are within six months of their graduation may be considered.

Acceptable majors are Business and Finance Business Administration Business Operations Project Management and other related degrees may be considered on case-by-case basis

MDT Internship Program provides an opportunity to immerse yourself in the world of problem solving innovation and teamwork. Interns engage in Montanas transportation projects that have a direct impact on Montanas traveling public! Interns will collaborate with area experts and gain invaluable hands-on experience. Our internships focus on training and integrating the interns into our current workforce of over 2000 people across Montana who are all providing a vital role to ensure everyone arrives at their destination safely.

Recruiting for a summer Business Solutions Internship positions! All applicants must be a student enrolled in a College University or Technical/ Trades School. Students who have recently graduated with in six months are also qualified for the summer Internship Program.

Business Solutions Office is looking for a motivated and detail-oriented intern to support business analysis project and portfolio management and change management efforts across our agency. This role offers a unique opportunity to gain hands-on experience in public sector organizational transformation strategic planning and project delivery.
Duration: 10 12 weeks (flexible based on academic schedule)
Location: Helena MT (hybrid or on-site options available)

Key Responsibilities:
Support business processes improvement efforts
Assist in project planning documentation and reporting activities
Help track and evaluate portfolio performance metrics
Contribute to change management strategies and communication plans
Collaborate with cross-functional teams to support agency-wide initiatives

Who Were Looking For:

Proficiency in Microsoft tools (Word Excel PowerPoint); SharePoint Planner Teams MS Project Visio Canva is a plus
A proactive adaptable and collaborative mindset with a desire to learn and contribute


To be considered for the Internship you must submit an online application and attach resume and cover letter.

Interviews will be conducted during the spring semester through video interviewing.

Regular work schedule will be 40 hours a week Monday-Friday.

Interns will not receive benefits such as paid holidays medical coverage earned vacation or sick leave.

Pay is determined by credit hours earned by the end of Spring semester 2026:

  • 30-59 credit hours $20.50
  • 60-90 credit hours $21.46
  • 91 credit hours $22.25
  • Technical Schools: Minimum of 30 credit hours $22.25
