WUSF News Intern (Administrative Clerk)

WUSFPublicMediaislookingforseveralcollegestudentsreadytoworkinaprofessionalnewsroom during the Spring 2026 semester. Were looking for peoplewithapassionforthe headlinesand for bringing newsto the public radio audience. Our internswork closely with the WUSF Newsteamof seasonedreporterslearning how to research write and produce storiesfor radio and online platforms. Itsa semester where studentsaretreated like real journalistsfromthe start assigned storiesthat matter to millionsof Tampa Bay area residents. Itswhere they a well-rounded dose of what it takesto succeed asa journalist - fromdeducing what storiesto pursue to gathering sound andwritingstoriesthatsing.

WUSF NewsInternshipsareconsideredmentorshipsworkingwiththenewsstaffofWUSF semesterand will begin shortly after thestartofthesemester.

Spring internships (up to five)include:

WUSF Rush Family RadioNewsInternship (two interns) The Radio News internship -depthnewsradiostoriesandwritingadigitalreport.

WUSF-USF ZimmermanRush Family Radio NewsInternship (two interns) The Zimmerman internship is assignmentsconductinginterviewswritingandproducingdaily audio anddigitalstories. Students must be enrolled in the USF Zimmerman School.

WUSF Stephen Noble Digital News Internship (one intern) The Digital News internship is one totwodaysaweek(one mustbe Friday).Positionwillincludeproducing visual and audiomaterialforWUSFsocialmediasitesaswellasreporting radio anddigitalstories thatwilldrivewebaudience andpulling stories from theweeklyFloridaRoundup livecall-inshow.

All internshipsmay also include pulling stories from the daily Florida Matters Live and Local show.

Datesof Internship: January 5 2026 to May 7 2026.Orientation will take place at the start of the semester.

AverageNumberofHoursPerWeek:8- 16hoursperweek.
