  • POSITION DESCRIPTION

    Huron Valley Schools is seeking an enthusiastic energetic and effective Teacher Consultant for our preschool program. Looking for a highly collaborative and effective communicator using both verbal and written skills with a passion for Early Childhood Development.

    Position Type: Instructional Special Education - Teacher Consultant

    Location: Apollo Early Childhood Center

    Salary: Per HVEA Contract

    Reports To: Director of Early Childhood Education/Student Support Services Administration

    Status: School Year 2025-26

    Start Date: As soon as possible

    MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

    • Masters degree from an accredited university in Education or a field of student related to special education

    • Valid Michigan Teaching Certificate with Autism Spectrum Disorder (SV) Emotional Impairments (SE) Cognitive Impairments (SA) and/or Learning Disabilities (SM).

    • Valid Michigan Teaching Certificate with Early Childhood Education PK-K (ZA) endorsement

    • Show evidence of a minimum of 3 years of satisfactory teaching experience not less than 2 years of which shall be teaching in a special education program.

    • Certification in non-violent crisis intervention training is required or a willingness to attend the training provided by the district outside of the school day.

    • Willing to travel outside of the school building to support students at private daycares and/or in the home

    ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

    Support students under MARSE R 340.1755 with early childhood special education services.

    • To effectively provide functional instruction for students on an Individualized Family Service Plan or Individualized Education Plan

    • Use ongoing assessment and progress monitoring (formative interim and summative) to inform instruction and communicate student growth.

    • Exceptional communication skills both verbal and written with the ability to collaborate effectively with families staff and outside service providers.

    • To monitor students growth towards plan goals then report data

    • To be engaged while attending building and department meetings

    • Extensive knowledge of research-based instructional strategies for students birth to age 5 to support diverse learning needs and flexible positive approaches to behavior support and self-regulation.

    • Ability to independently and accurately implement IDEA MARSE and district special education procedures on behalf of students.

    • Demonstrated organizational excellence

    • A strong understanding and observance of district procedures state requirements and federal regulations

    EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE: Masters Degree

    LANGUAGE MATHEMATICAL AND REASONING SKILLS: Ability to speak and write effectively. Ability to apply mathematical concepts to practical situations. Ability to carry out instructions furnished in written or oral format and deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.
