Job Summary:
- Schedule/Deliver training of current/new drivers
- Facilitate Annual recertification of Bus/Van Drivers
- To oversee daily safety of Bus/Van drivers monitors and aides
Responsibilities:
- Work closely with the Director of Transportation Student Safety Committee elementary and secondary schools to continue programs for safety and security procedures for students on the buses
- Maintain State of RI compliance on all employees keeping files updated
- Schedule training programs for the drivers aides and monitors
- Follow the procedures and policies of the Westerly Public Schools and perform other duties required and assigned by the District Transportation Director
Qualifications:
- Experience:
- 3 years experience as a bus driver (preferred)
- Computer literate including data input
- Extensive knowledge of motor vehicle laws.
- Excelled interpersonal and customer service skills.
- Excellent time management skills.
- Must have a high school diploma or equivalent.
- Must hold a valid CDL license with a P and S endorsement
- Must hold a valid RI SchoolBus Certificate (White Card)
- Compliance with all applicable federal state county district and contract specific Bus Driver requirements.
- A thorough knowledge of Federal/State rules and regulations practices procedures and terms; ability to gather information maintain records and product reports; ability to exercise a high degree of initiative and good judgment
- Must be 21 years of age or older.
- Walk climb stairs bend and lift up to 45lbs.
- Prolonged periods of sitting while operating the bus.
